General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed the role of connecting and supporting the community of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese community in the Philippines.

On the afternoon of May 31, in Manila capital, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, had a meeting with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the community, businesses, and Vietnamese experts in the Philippines.

At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam praised the efforts of the Vietnamese community in the Philippines in integrating into the local society, preserving national cultural identity, and having activities to promote economic and trade relations between the two countries; welcomed the role of connecting and supporting the community of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese community in the Philippines.

General Secretary and President shared about the development orientations of the country and socio-economic development solutions, promoting high economic growth to improve self-reliance and self-strengthening capacity, and constantly improve people's lives.

The General Secretary and President announced some outstanding results in his visit to Thailand and Singapore, in which Vietnam's keynote speech at the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on May 29 was of particular international concern, highlighting Vietnam's increasingly prominent role in the region.

Through this, Vietnam affirmed that it has risen strongly after more than 80 years of construction and development and 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation), becoming one of the dynamic and rapidly developing economies, a country with prestige and responsibility for regional and world issues.

Regarding Vietnam - Philippines relations, the General Secretary and President emphasized that Vietnam is currently the only strategic partner of the Philippines in Southeast Asia.

Over the past time, bilateral relations have developed strongly in many fields. The two countries are making efforts to promote bilateral trade cooperation, with the goal of soon bringing trade turnover to 10 billion USD, to exploit the still wide open cooperation potentials.

General Secretary and President affirmed that the Party and State consistently believe that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community; always pay attention and promptly have policies to care for the overseas Vietnamese community, support people with solid legal status, stable lives, integration into local society; firmly consolidate the great national unity bloc; encourage and create conditions for people to actively contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

Over the past time, a number of policies have continued to be amended to create conditions for our compatriots abroad to invest, study, research, start businesses, teach Vietnamese, transfer knowledge, and participate in cultural and people-to-people diplomacy activities.

The General Secretary and President wished the Vietnamese community in the Philippines to continue to unite, help each other integrate and well comply with local laws, actively participate in activities, make practical contributions to their homeland and promote friendly relations between the two countries.

The General Secretary and President requested the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines to continue to pay attention and do better work for overseas Vietnamese, regularly connect with people, maintain and strengthen the connection between people and the country, mobilize people to well comply with local laws, do a good job of citizen protection, and actively support community activities.
