Within the framework of the State visit to China from April 14-17 by General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, on the afternoon of April 14, the Ministry of Education of China in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam organized the Vietnam - China Higher Education, Science and Technology and Innovation Cooperation Forum.

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure to see that cooperation between educational and research institutions of Vietnam and Thanh Hoa University is having very positive developments. Leaders of both sides emphasized priority areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, science and technology and high-quality human resource training. These are very right steps, very necessary and need to be further expanded in the coming time.

Currently, there are about 25,000 Vietnamese students studying in China. That number shows the increasing depth of educational exchange between the two countries, General Secretary and President To Lam believes that each Vietnamese student studying in China, including those studying at Tsinghua University, are bridges of friendship, cultural ambassadors, representatives of the spirit of studiousness, receptiveness and aspiration to rise up of Vietnamese youth. Each Chinese student coming to Vietnam to study, research, and experience in practice will also contribute to deepening the understanding between the people of the two countries.
The General Secretary and President suggested that it is necessary to create a stronger shift in substantive cooperation, taking strategic connection as the focus, taking specific efficiency as a measure, and taking the interests of the people of the two countries as a goal; it is necessary to make science, technology, innovation and digital transformation a new bright spot, a new pillar of Vietnam-China relations in the new period.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that he especially values cooperation with China in areas where the two sides can complement each other and develop together, especially artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, semiconductor, automation, robotics, green technology, biotechnology, new materials, clean energy and other strategic technology industries; wishing that in the coming time, Vietnam - China cooperation will not only be stronger in trade and investment, but also stronger in knowledge, technology, innovation and future-building capacity.
The General Secretary and President wished that Thanh Hoa University would continue to expand cooperation with universities and research institutes of Vietnam; strengthen student exchange, scholar exchange, training links, research cooperation, build joint guidance programs, joint research groups, and joint laboratories in key areas.
On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam signed a guestbook expressing his impression and admiration for the wholehearted dedication of the teachers and the studiousness of the students to create a quality and effective educational environment; impressed with the spirit of Thanh Hoa "self-reliance is inevitable, goodness carries things", which is also a noble spiritual value shared by the people of Vietnam and China.
