General Secretary, President wishes to coordinate with Japan to ensure energy security

The General Secretary and President expressed his desire to coordinate with Japan to contribute to solving regional and international issues, including ensuring energy security.

On the afternoon of April 13, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam had a phone call with the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae.

At the phone call, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being trusted to be elected as General Secretary of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Prime Minister Takaichi affirmed that Japan wishes to strengthen cooperative relations with Vietnam in all fields.

General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan on winning the February House of Representatives election and Ms. Takaichi Sanae on continuing to be trusted to be elected Prime Minister of Japan; believing that Japan will continue to develop, making positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the good and comprehensive development in all fields of the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; agreed to strengthen exchanges and high-level delegation exchanges between the two countries; promote practical cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defense - security, economy, science - technology, digital transformation, green transformation, energy security, labor, health, local affairs,...

In the context of a rapidly changing world situation, negatively impacting energy security and disrupting supply chains, the General Secretary and President expressed his desire to strengthen coordination with Japan to contribute to solving regional and international issues, including ensuring energy security; affirmed that he will continue to closely coordinate with Japan in regional and world issues in the coming time.

Prime Minister Takaichi highly appreciated Vietnam's position and role in the region; shared that Vietnam is an important partner in implementing Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision (FOIP); and affirmed that Japan values and appreciates the policy of independence and self-reliance, supporting Vietnam in implementing development goals in the new era.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully invited the Emperor and Empress of Japan, Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae to visit Vietnam soon at an appropriate time.
