On May 28, at the Royal Palace of Thailand, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly met with King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen of Thailand.
The King of Thailand expressed his pleasure to welcome the General Secretary, President and his wife on an official visit to Thailand; highly appreciated the significance of the visit taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and after the two countries upgraded relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; affirmed that the visit will contribute to deepening relations between the two countries.
On this occasion, King Vajiralongkorn shared about his memories of visiting Vietnam before and the good impressions of the country and people of Vietnam.
Expressing his pleasure to return to visit Thailand, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam highly values the relations between the two countries.
The General Secretary and President announced the very successful results of the talks with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, in which the two sides signed the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2026 - 2031 with many important cooperation contents in the fields of defense, security, economy, science and technology, connectivity, culture and people-to-people exchanges; and expressed his wish that the King would continue to pay attention and support the promotion of key areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The General Secretary and President emphasized that Vietnam always appreciates the visits to Vietnam by members of the Royal Thai Family, especially the visits of the King in 1992 and 1997 when he was still Crown Prince, considering these as important milestones contributing to strengthening friendly relations and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries. The General Secretary and President also thanked the Royal Thai Family for implementing many meaningful projects in Vietnam in the fields of education, community development and social security.
The General Secretary and President also thanked the King and the Thai Government for always paying attention to and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Thailand to live stably and actively integrate into the local society; proposed to continue to support the conservation and promotion of Vietnamese cultural values in Thailand, including the Ho Chi Minh memorial sites and Vietnamese pagodas in Thailand.
On this occasion, the General Secretary and President respectfully invited the King and Queen to visit Vietnam in the near future. The King happily accepted and expressed his wish to return to visit Vietnam soon.
Previously, the General Secretary and President, along with his wife and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, paid flower wreaths and signed the mourning book for Queen Mother Sirikit of Thailand.
