The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on the afternoon of June 10, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Alex Rogers, Chairman in charge of Global Governance, Qualcomm Group.
The General Secretary welcomed Mr. Alex Rogers' visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the second anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The General Secretary expressed his delight at the positive and substantial developments in bilateral relations; affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to its relations with the US, and hopes that the relationship will continue to go into depth, effectiveness, and stability, especially in economics, trade, investment, science - technology, innovation and education - training.
The General Secretary congratulated Qualcomm's success in Vietnam and welcomed the group to increase investment and expand to fields such as high technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital infrastructure, contributing to making Vietnam a regional and global AI and semiconductor center.
The General Secretary suggested that Qualcomm strengthen cooperation, technology transfer, share experiences to improve Vietnam's human resource capacity, and support Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global value chain.

The General Secretary suggested that US businesses continue to support the bilateral negotiation process, contributing to promoting sustainable economic, trade and investment cooperation. The General Secretary shared Vietnam's development vision with the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030; and a developed country with high income by 2045.
The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam has issued many important resolutions to facilitate the development of science and technology, attracting the private sector, including Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 68-NQ/TW.
In that spirit, the Party and State of Vietnam create the most favorable conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to invest effectively and sustainably; welcome Vietnamese experts studying abroad to return to contribute, especially in the field of startups.
Mr. Alex Rogers thanked the General Secretary for taking the time to receive the delegation, saying that the visit is to launch the Artificial Intelligence (AI R&D) Research and Development Center in Hanoi, one of Qualcomm's three centers outside the US. He highly appreciated the potential of Vietnam, with a large team of AI experts, in the top 20 in the world.
He said Qualcomm is ready to cooperate in building a semiconductor and AI ecosystem in Vietnam, committed to continuing to invest in and nurture Vietnamese talents to contribute to the country's development and Vietnam-US relations.
He highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in improving the investment environment, developing science and technology, innovation and identifying the private economy as a driving force for development. He believes that under the leadership of General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will achieve development goals.
