
VNA, during an official visit to the Republic of Singapore from March 11-13, on the afternoon of March 11, General Secretary To Lam and leaders of a number of ministries, branches and localities witnessed the announcement ceremony of the Singapore - Phu Quoc direct flight route, signing a $300 million aircraft purchase sponsorship agreement with Carlyle Aviation Partners, signing a cooperation agreement with Satair Company, marking a new step forward in Vietnam - Singapore cooperation, strengthening connectivity and sustainable development between the two countries.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet Air's Board of Directors, emphasized that Vietjet Air is not only an airline but also promotes economic trade, investment, education and culture. Currently, Vietjet Air operates more than 115 aircraft, serving more than 230 million passengers.
This event continues the commitment to cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UN UNESCO), affirming Vietjet Air's role in economic development associated with the traditional cultural values of each country and nation.
Vietjet Air and Singaporean partners with annual sales of up to billions of USD are promoting cooperation in finance, trade and innovation, towards a sustainable future, accompanying development.
On this occasion, Vietjet Air and Carlyle Aviation Partners signed a funding agreement of 300 million USD, supporting the purchase of aircraft for delivery in the period of 2025-2026.
This agreement is a step forward in Vietjet Air's plan to develop a modern fleet, implementing orders for more than 400 new aircraft.
In addition, Vietjet Air and Satair Company under Airbus Group also signed a cooperation contract on the use of integrated IMS materials, a comprehensive supply solution for the entire Airbus A320 and A330 fleet of Vietjet.
The new Phu Quoc - Singapore route will open from May 30, with four flights/week, a total of 78 flights/week between Vietnam and Singapore, expected to serve more than half a million passengers per year.
This is the fourth route connecting Singapore with Vietnam, after Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang.
The Singapore - Phu Quoc route not only promotes tourism, but also enhances economic, trade and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
