The launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" Spring At Ty 2025 was held by Ninh Binh province at Dinh Tien Hoang De Square (Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh province).
Speaking at the launching ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that more than 65 years ago, on November 28, 1959, President Ho Chi Minh wrote the article "Tet tree planting" published in Nhan Dan newspaper under the pen name Tran Luc, calling on everyone, every household, every organization, and every locality to actively compete in planting and caring for trees, analyzing the great significance and practical benefits of planting trees and afforestation.
The Lunar New Year of Canh Ty 1960 was the first year to respond to President Ho Chi Minh's call for "Tree Planting Festival". The movements: "Tree Planting Festival", "Tree Planting Festival for the beloved South", "Tree Planting Festival to defeat the American invaders", and now "Tree Planting Festival following Uncle Ho's teachings", "Tree Planting Festival forever grateful to Uncle Ho" are strong marks of our Party and people's determination to learn and follow Uncle Ho's teachings.
Since then, every spring, "Tree Planting Festival" has truly become a festival for the entire Party, people and army. This is not only an activity with profound traditional meaning, but also a concrete and practical action to fulfill Vietnam's strong commitment to the international community and implement the national strategy on climate change, towards a green planet, for the rapid and sustainable development of the country.
The General Secretary acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh province have achieved in recent years, especially in preserving the heritage of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, maintaining and promoting the value of beautiful natural landscapes, and choosing a green, harmonious and sustainable development model.
The General Secretary stated that the 2021-2030 Ninh Binh province development plan identifies goals and visions to basically achieve the criteria by 2030, becoming a centrally-run city by 2035 with the characteristics of a millennium heritage urban area and a creative city; taking tourism, cultural industry, and entertainment industry as key industry clusters; taking the automobile mechanical industry as the driving force; taking the application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and digital transformation as breakthroughs; taking multi-value ecological agriculture as a pillar... This is the right direction, allowing for the exploitation and promotion of the distinct potentials and competitive advantages of a locality possessing massive heritage resources, unique cultural values, and beautiful natural landscapes...
The General Secretary suggested that Ninh Binh province must strive to become a typical model for green, harmonious and sustainable growth, based on the close combination of socio-economic development with the preservation of cultural heritage, environmental protection, natural landscapes, and the promotion of the application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation, digital transformation and green transformation.
All levels, sectors, households and individuals need to be aware of their responsibility to protect the ecological environment; extensive movements must be formed with the cooperation of the entire community. Each specific action such as planting trees, saving water, protecting forests, choosing a business model based on green transformation... all contribute to building a green Vietnam.
The General Secretary instructed that propaganda work must be focused on in many specific, vivid and practical forms so that the masses can understand the purpose and meaning of the Tree Planting Festival; the role, great effects, comprehensive and long-term benefits, and humanistic values of tree planting and afforestation; enthusiastically participate in the tree planting movement, raise awareness and have effective measures to protect forests, prevent deforestation, forest burning, and illegal forest exploitation; launch the Tree Planting Ceremony in accordance with the conditions of the locality, agency, and unit, ensuring practicality, efficiency, and economy, avoiding ostentation.
Ministries and sectors, especially the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, need to coordinate, strengthen supervision, and direct localities to effectively implement the tree planting movement. Authorities need to develop and implement policies to encourage people and businesses to participate in environmental protection projects, adapt to climate change, and take measures to restore the environmental landscape in places that have been damaged during the industrialization and urbanization process.
Along with that is perfecting the green transformation strategy in all areas of socio-economic life associated with innovation of growth models, restructuring the economy on the basis of applying scientific and technological achievements, promoting innovation, digital transformation, and protecting natural resources.
General Secretary To Lam believes that with its long-standing historical tradition, with the determination and solidarity of the entire Party, people and army, the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" will continue to promote practical effectiveness, protect the ecological environment well to successfully implement the strategy of rapid and sustainable development when entering a new era - the era of striving for strong, prosperous development of the nation.
On the same morning, General Secretary To Lam and the Central Working Delegation attended and cut the ribbon to inaugurate Le Duan Street and Van River Bridge in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh Province. These are key traffic works, selected by Ninh Binh Province to put up a welcome sign for the 23rd Ninh Binh Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.
