At the invitation of President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung and his wife, on the morning of August 10, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi for a state visit to the DPRK from August 10 to 13.

This is the first State visit to Korea by General Secretary To Lam in his new position.
This will be an opportunity for the two sides to conduct in-depth strategic exchanges, identify directions and measures to develop bilateral relations substantially, comprehensively and effectively; open up new development orientations to important and potential areas of cooperation, thereby bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
In the context that Vietnam is in the process of building and implementing major development orientations for the country, the State visit of General Secretary To Lam further demonstrates the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active, comprehensive, extensive and effective international integration and is also an important foreign activity to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
