Building an education on par with the world
Speaking to teachers and students of the schools, General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure to visit Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Cau Giay Secondary School, two of the top high-quality educational institutions in Hanoi.
The General Secretary said that through monitoring the development of the Hanoi Capital Education and the report of the two schools, highly appreciating the leadership and direction of the city leaders at all levels of the Capital Education.
Hanoi City is the locality with the largest general education scale in the country. Over the years, the capital education has achieved many remarkable results. Facilities, equipment and information technology applications for teaching and learning in the school continue to take the lead in the direction of standardization, synchronization and modernity. The quality of teachers and educational administrators has been raised; stable and developed mass education; The key education led nationwide in national excellent students and regional and international Olympic exams.
The application of information technology has many improvements, especially the investment in STEM education - an important, interdisciplinary field, integrating science, technology, engineering and toanistics - is a testament to Hanoi's innovative thinking, long-term vision and determination to integrate in particular, of the country's education sector in general.
Recognizing the quality of education and training of the two schools, the General Secretary said that the Capital's education sector achieved the above achievements, with a certain contribution of the two schools, where the intellectual convergence, efforts and aspirations of generations of students and teachers.
The two schools have always been consistent with the motto of "Intensive training - comprehensive education - creative pioneering", constantly innovating and updating international education advances, gradually improving the quality of teaching and learning, for many years holding the title of advanced typical school, having a good teaching movement, good learning. The achievement of students is superior in many fields. The two schools have focused on developing STEM education, improving the quality of training in the fields of science and technology, meeting the requirements of integration and development.
The General Secretary said that the Party's goal is to build a new, comprehensive, educational system on par with the world but still maintaining Vietnamese cultural identity; having a young generation that is not only excellent in intelligence but also superior in physical strength, rich in cultural identity, capable of competing and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, affirming the country's position in the international arena. The education system must be extensively innovated, focusing on developing creative skills, STEM, foreign languages, digital skills and modern technology. Intellectual education needs to go hand in hand with cultural, ethical, aesthetic, and health education to form comprehensive individuals.
Emphasizing the goal of promoting science and technology training and digital transformation in schools, the General Secretary stated that the use of modern STEM classrooms at the two schools is not only a gift of facilities, but also a strong commitment of the Party and State in investing in the future, arousing creative potential, nurturing passion for science and technology in the young generation of Vietnam.
The General Secretary hopes that students will promote the spirit of self-study, proactively research, and apply knowledge to practical life, becoming citizens with intelligence, courage, and responsibility, contributing to the cause of educational and training innovation and strategic development goals of the country.
Shortening the gap between "schools"
Recognizing and praising the efforts of the contingent of cadres, teachers, all levels of education management of the Capital, the General Secretary suggested that the Party committees, authorities, the Capital Education branch, mass organizations and the whole society continue to modernize, improve the quality of education and training, shorten the difference between schools and schools in the central region with schools in the remote areas; Particular attention will be paid to reducing pressure on students, strengthening cultural and artistic teaching to ensure comprehensive development of students; Research has policies to support lunch for elementary and junior high school students.
The General Secretary noted that Hanoi effectively implements Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, paying attention to, investing, and creating more favorable conditions for the development of the education sector, especially promoting innovation education, STEM education and digital transformation in schools; paying attention to students in difficult circumstances with the motto "In any circumstances, no student is left behind".
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam presented Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Cau Giay High School for the Gifted, each school with 100 scholarships for outstanding students, a STEM Education Practice room and planted souvenir trees at schools.
