Expressing his pleasure at meeting again the former Special Ambassador of Vietnam - Japan Sugi Ryotaro, a close friend of the Vietnamese people, the General Secretary highly appreciated and respectfully thanked Mr. Sugi Ryotaro for his positive contributions to the Vietnam - Japan friendship over the past 30 years through laying the foundation for Japanese language training in Vietnam; promoting cultural cooperation, organizing large-scale art exchange programs; promoting environmental improvement, policies for overseas workers and trainees, including Vietnam; supporting capacity building for many ministries and branches of Vietnam.
Expressing gratitude to the General Secretary for taking the time to meet with former Ambassador Special for Vietnam - Japan Sugi Ryotaro to inform about the activities that have been implemented in Vietnam over the past 30 years and in recent times, including supporting the improvement of school facilities, screening, prevention and control of hepatitis in Yen Bai province.
Sharing some ideas in the coming time, former Special Ambassador of Vietnam - Japan Sugi Ryotaro hopes to establish a blind symphony orchestra in Vietnam; promote exchanges and learning experiences in promoting and developing Japanese tourism, thereby further promoting Japanese tourists to Vietnam; promote brand building and promotion of specialties of Vietnamese regions in Japan such as tea products.
The General Secretary appreciated the kindness of former Ambassador Special for Vietnam - Japan Sugi Ryotaro for his humanitarian activities in Vietnam in recent times, especially for calling for, supporting and using personal money to donate a total of nearly 20 million USD to support overcoming the consequences of natural disasters over the years as well as having more than 200 Vietnamese children in difficult circumstances as adopted children.
Emphasizing efforts to streamline the apparatus, promote improvement of facilities, and improve the quality of healthcare and education in Vietnam, General Secretary To Lam also suggested that former Vietnam - Japan Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro continue to pay attention to and actively contribute to a number of areas such as: Deploying humanitarian activities on healthcare and education for remote areas of Vietnam; supporting Vietnam in promoting the image of tourism through media channels in Japan; continuing traditional cultural exchange programs; supporting and assisting the Vietnamese community in Japan.
