On March 18, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha worked with the leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on the socio-economic development situation, disbursement of public investment capital, difficulties and problems of the locality.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Nguyen Van Tho said that in 2025, the total public investment capital of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province assigned by the Prime Minister will be 13,836 billion VND, but the locality has identified the total source as 27,261 billion VND.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has allocated VND 25,640 billion (reaching more than 93%). As of March 10, VND 1,597 billion (reaching 6.23%) has been disbursed.
The province ensures the completion of the technical traffic of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project according to plan and started construction of other important transport infrastructure projects.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned ministries and branches to closely coordinate with Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to continue to resolve recommendations on the policy of piloting the mechanism of open ports at the Cai Mep container port cluster.
Resolving Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway projects, upgrading Con Dao airport; import tax and corporate income tax policies for Long Son Petrochemical Company Limited and Hyosung Vina Chemical Company Limited.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that in the process of arranging and streamlining the organizational apparatus and adjusting administrative boundaries, ministries and branches need to coordinate and support Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in reviewing, evaluating and recommending solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in management and operation.
Also at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister listened to a report on investment proposals for the investment project to build a traffic connection route from Long Thanh International Airport to Ho Tram Urban Area with a total estimated investment of about 17,300 billion VND.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, investors, and design consultants to urgently implement the project in the spirit of choosing the shortest and fastest route, with the most concise procedures possible.
The project not only connects Ho Tram urban area with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 and Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, but also other transport routes, combined with urban, commercial, service and industrial development towards the transport route (TOD) to ensure aesthetics, environment and architecture.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau has gone through many separations and mergers since 1698.
Most recently, in 1991, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province was established from Chau Thanh, Long Dat and Xuyen Moc districts (Dong Nai province) and the Vung Tau - Con Dao special zone.
In 1994, dissolved Chau Thanh district, then established Ba Ria town, Tan Thanh district, Chau Duc district; established Phu My town under Tan Thanh, Ngai Giao town under Chau Duc.
In 2003, Long Dat district was dissolved, Long Dien district and Dat Do district were established. In 2007, Dat Do town and Phuoc Hai town were established under Dat Do district.
In 2012, Ba Ria City was established on August 22. In 2018, Phu My town was established on the basis of Tan Thanh district; then continued to become Phu My city from March 1, 2025.
From January 1, 2025, Long Dien and Dat Do districts will be merged into Long Dat district; a number of commune-level localities will be merged according to the Resolution issued by the National Assembly Standing Committee.
