On May 15, within the framework of the visit to North Korea to announce the results of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Special Envoy of General Secretary and President To Lam, Comrade Le Hoai Trung - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly cum Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Cho Yong Won.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly cum Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly Cho Yong Won emphasized that the visit takes place at a special time when the traditional friendly relations between the two countries have entered a new stage of development, showing the determination of the Party and State leaders of North Korea and Vietnam in promoting the development of bilateral relations in the spirit of the agreement reached between the high-level leaders of the two countries in Pyongyang in October 2025.
Special Envoy Le Hoai Trung conveyed the message of General Secretary and President To Lam to General Secretary and Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong Un, emphasizing that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam has fulfilled its great historical responsibility, deeply summarized the reality of the Vietnamese revolution after 40 years of Doi Moi, set out major goals, directions and strategic orientations for the future and destiny of the Vietnamese nation in the new era of development; determined to build a peaceful, independent, democratic, rich and strong Vietnam, prosperous, civilized, and happy, steadily moving towards socialism; steadfastly implementing consistently the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, and diversification of foreign relations.
Based on the major orientations in the Message of General Secretary and President To Lam, Special Envoy Le Hoai Trung affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam always wish to constantly nurture and promote Vietnam-North Korea relations to become increasingly substantive and effective, in line with the common aspirations of the people of the two countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly cum Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly Cho Yong Won emphasized that the consistent stance of the Party and State of Korea is to expand and develop the long-standing traditional friendly relations between the two countries in all political, economic, cultural... fields in the spirit of the agreement of the high-level leaders of the two countries reached in Pyongyang in October 2025; wishing the two sides to make efforts to consolidate political trust, promote cooperation in all fields, and bring bilateral relations to sustainable development.
