Vietnam - Germany still have much room for multi-sectoral cooperation

On June 16, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Vice Chairman of the Federal Republic of Germany Parliament Bodo Ramelow who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Welcoming German Deputy Parliament Speaker Bodo Ramelow to visit Vietnam, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the visit contributes to strengthening political trust, promoting mutual understanding and creating motivation for Vietnam-Germany relations to develop stably, substantively and effectively.

The National Assembly Chairwoman also highly appreciated the good feelings as well as the positive contributions of Mr. Bodo Ramelow to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Emphasizing that Vietnam always values and wishes to promote the Strategic Partnership with Germany, the National Assembly Chairwoman highly appreciated Germany's role and position in the European Union (EU) and on the international stage, as well as Germany's support for multilateralism, free trade and compliance with international law, including the United Nations Charter and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

Sharing about the situation and development orientation of Vietnam, the National Assembly Chairwoman said that Vietnam is determined to strongly innovate the growth model, improve institutions, promote science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation and sustainable development; striving to become a developing country with modern industry, high-middle income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045. Vietnam is determined and strives to implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, creating a solid foundation for Vietnam to maintain a double-digit growth rate in the coming years.

In the context of the world situation still facing many difficulties and challenges, in 2025, Vietnam has completed all 15 key socio-economic targets, achieving GDP growth of 8.02% and promoting the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects, creating a foundation for rapid and sustainable development.

The National Assembly Chairwoman also said that the Vietnamese National Assembly is continuing to strongly innovate its organization and operating methods, improve the quality of legislative and supervisory work; and at the same time promote parliamentary foreign affairs, contributing to affirming Vietnam's image as a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community.

Welcoming the results of the talks between Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, the National Assembly Chairwoman requested the two sides to closely coordinate in implementing the agreed contents, strengthen supervision of the implementation of bilateral commitments and agreements; and at the same time pay attention to attracting sustainable investment capital, advanced technology and implementing projects with long-term quality and efficiency.

The National Assembly Chairman requested the German Parliament to study and move towards signing a Cooperation Agreement between the Parliaments of the two countries, soon establish a Friendship Parliamentary Group with Vietnam, and at the same time strengthen the sharing of experiences in national governance and socio-economic management through direct or online exchanges.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully conveyed his invitation to German Federal Republic Parliament Speaker Julia Klöckner to pay an official visit to Vietnam soon.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Bodo Ramelow expressed his impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements; said that the German business community highly appreciates Vietnam's investment and business environment and development potential; affirmed its desire to promote cooperation in the context of a volatile world.

The Vice President of the German Parliament said that the two countries still have much room for cooperation in the fields of labor, vocational training in health, nursing and human resource development, on the basis of combining the technological strengths and experience of Germany with the young and quality human resources of Vietnam; wishing the two sides to strengthen sharing experiences on new development trends.

The two sides believe that, with the political determination and joint efforts of the leaders of the two countries, the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership as well as cooperation between the National Assemblies of the two countries will continue to develop more comprehensively, deeply and substantively, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, while actively contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
