Within the framework of the state visit to Laos, on April 25, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong met with comrade Choummaly Sayasone and comrade Bounnhang Vorachith, former General Secretaries and former Presidents of Laos through the ages.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Luong Cuong expressed his pleasure to meet the brothers, close friends of the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam, the senior Laos leaders who have many contributions and contributions to nurturing and strengthening the great friendship and special solidarity of Vietnam - Laos in many different positions; transferred to the former senior leaders of the Party and the Lao State to visit and congratulate the new year Bun Pi May of General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
At the meetings, President Luong Cuong informed about the significance of the State visit to Laos this time; affirmed that the Vietnam - Laos relationship is an invaluable asset, with survival value for the revolutionary cause of the two countries.
President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam always appreciates the extremely valuable contributions of former Lao leaders to the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos and hopes that with their prestige and extensive experience, former Lao leaders will continue to support and give their opinions to the consolidation and further deepening of cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.
Former Lao senior leaders expressed their delight at meeting President Luong Cuong again in his new position; expressed their sincere thanks and warm regards to General Secretary To Lam and senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam; congratulated Vietnam on its great achievements in recent times, affirmed Vietnam's increasingly enhanced role and position in the international arena; and believed that the special solidarity relationship between the two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries will continue to be strengthened and bear fruit in the coming time.
Former Lao leaders especially welcomed the program "Friendship Exchange: Vietnam - Laos of the two countries, love deeper than Hong Ha - Cuu Long" during this visit; emphasizing that this is a meaningful activity to express gratitude to Lao comrades who have stood shoulder to shoulder with and stood side with Vietnamese comrades, and reviewed the heroic memories of the two peoples in the past struggle for independence and national defense as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.
The leaders agreed on the importance of continuing to pay attention to educating and propagating to the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, about the great tradition of friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, continuing to stand shoulder to shoulder and coordinate closely to achieve even greater victories.
