On the morning of June 12, at a meeting with President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda during his official visit to Vietnam, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember the valuable support and assistance that the people of Lithuania have given to Vietnam in the struggle for national independence, as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.
The two leaders informed each other about the situation in each country and exchanged in depth on major orientations as well as specific measures to strengthen cooperation and elevate bilateral relations.
Regarding economy, trade and investment, the two heads of state stated that this is an important pillar in bilateral relations. The two sides agreed that there is still much room to increase trade turnover, promote the effective implementation of the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and create conditions for goods from each country to access each other's markets.
The two sides also exchanged and promoted to sign a Agreement on avoiding double taxation to remove all barriers and open up trade and investment relations.
The two heads affirmed that the two countries have many high-quality agricultural products that can complement each other, and at the same time have the potential for cooperation in agricultural processing to ensure sustainable development and food security.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and technology, especially high-tech industries such as digital technology, information technology, FinTech, artificial intelligence (AI), green transformation and renewable energy.
In the field of national defense and security, the two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in accordance with international law and the policies of each country, including the content of crime prevention and information security.
President Luong Cuong invited President Gitanas Nauseda to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, scheduled to be held in Hanoi in October 2025.
President Luong Cuong acknowledged Lithuania as one of the first EU member states to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and suggested that Lithuania continue to urge the remaining EU countries to soon complete EVIPA ratification, as well as support the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU "Y yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong thanked and suggested that Lithuanian authorities at all levels continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Lithuania to integrate deeply, contributing to the development of Lithuania as well as bilateral relations.
Discussing regional and international issues, President Luong Cuong suggested that Lithuania continue to support ASEAN and Vietnam's stance on the East Sea issue, resolve disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), contributing to maintaining peace, stability and maritime safety in the region and the world.
