At the invitation of Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, President of the Republic of Lithuania (Litva) Gitanas Nauseda and his wife paid an official visit to Vietnam from June 11-12.
On the morning of June 12, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong and his wife presided over the official welcoming ceremony for President Gitanas Nauseda and his wife.
This is the first high-level visit of the head of the Russian state to Vietnam in many years, a very important foreign event, demonstrating the two countries' respect for traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, while opening a new chapter for bilateral relations.

The convoy of vehicles carrying President Gitanas Nauseda and his wife into the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong and his wife were present on the red carpet to warmly welcome President Gitanas Nauseda leading the senior Lithuania delegation to Vietnam. Representatives of the capital's children approached to present President Gitanas Nauseda and his wife with fresh bouquets of flowers.
In the welcoming music, President Luong Cuong and President Lithuania approached the podium.
After listening to the national anthems of the two countries, President Luong Cuong and President Gitanas Nauseda left the podium, bowed to the military flag and approved the Honor Guard of the Vietnam People's Army. Next, the two leaders introduced the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

Vietnam and Lithuania officially established diplomatic relations on March 18, 1992. Over the past 3 decades, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have always been strengthened, notably the political trust, goodwill for cooperation and high complementarity between the two economies despite their different scale and geography.
Vietnam has always considered Lithuania a sincere friend in the Middle East of Europe, while Lithuania highly appreciates Vietnam's growing role in Southeast Asia and in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The two countries share many similarities in their vision of sustainable development, international integration, digital transformation and adaptation to global challenges such as climate change, energy security or supply chains.
The two countries closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, the ASEAN-EU Cooperation Forum (ASEM).
Lithuania has always supported important agreements between Vietnam and the EU such as the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam (EVFTA) and the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), creating an important legal and trade foundation for expanding economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.
