At the phone call, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung reaffirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates Canada's important role and voice in international and regional issues; emphasized that Vietnam always values relations with Canada and is ready to work with Canada to strengthen substantive cooperation, towards early upgrading the framework of the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership, in accordance with the level of political trust, cooperation potential and interests of the people of the two countries.
Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the past time, the two sides closely coordinated to effectively implement the results of the phone call between Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on July 21, 2026 as well as the meeting between the two Ministers on July 22, 2026 on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in the Philippines.
Minister Le Hoai Trung requested the two sides to continue to closely coordinate to concretize the elevation of relations as desired by the leaders of the two countries; further deepen political trust through delegation exchanges at all levels, channels, prioritizing promoting visits by senior leaders of the two countries; strengthen the linkage of the two economies and the supply chain linkage between Vietnam - ASEAN - Canada - North America; continue to promote cooperation in science, technology, innovation, security, defense, education, high-quality human resource training and close coordination at regional and international forums.
For her part, Minister Anita Anand reaffirmed that Canada considers Vietnam an important partner in the ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions; shared Minister Le Hoai Trung's opinion on the coordination between the two sides in the past time to promote the visit of senior leaders of the two countries and bring Canada-Vietnam relations to a new height.
The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs agreed to strengthen coordination and expand cooperation in areas where the two sides have strengths and needs to complement each other, encouraging ministries, branches, localities and businesses of the two countries to strengthen connectivity and proactively propose specific cooperation initiatives and projects.
The two Ministers agreed to maintain regular exchanges between the two Ministers as well as the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, thereby contributing to promoting Vietnam-Canada relations to develop more and more substantively, effectively and in depth.
