Within the framework of his official visit to South Korea, on the afternoon of September 8 (local time), in Seoul, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received leaders of a number of large Korean corporations investing in Vietnam, according to VNA.
Receiving Mr. Chey Tae Won, Chairman of SK Group, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man acknowledged and highly appreciated the effective and practical contributions of the group in the economic cooperation picture between Vietnam and Korea.
In recent years, SK has not only been one of the leading economic groups in Korea but also a reliable companion, leading in many strategic investment fields of Vietnam such as clean energy, high technology, digital transformation and sustainable development.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed and encouraged the group to continue to expand investment scale in key areas suitable to Vietnam's development orientation, including semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence, innovation, renewable energy and emission reduction solutions, towards the goal of green development, technology transfer cooperation, and high-quality human resource training in Vietnam.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam's consistent policy is to prioritize attracting high-quality investment projects, especially projects in the field of high technology, with high intellectual content and added value. Vietnam is aiming to build a sustainable development model but at a fast pace to achieve double-digit growth, thereby ensuring energy is the top important factor and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) is a breakthrough.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed and highly appreciated the group's proposal to invest in building a large-scale artificial intelligence center in Vietnam, saying that this is a priority area for Vietnam and is in line with the breakthrough orientation in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, as well as new generation foreign investment attraction policies.
Chairman of SK Group Chey Tae Won said that the group is currently continuing to research and seek opportunities to expand investment in large-scale projects in the field of energy infrastructure, AI data centers and fields that are both the group's strengths and suitable for Vietnam's priority development orientation.
According to the Chairman of SK Group, Vietnam is a country with very high growth potential in the coming time and investing in energy and AI development is the foundation for building a stable but fast-growing growth model.
On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Mr. Roh Tae Moon, Senior Vice President cum CEO of Samsung Electronics; received Mr. Moon Hyuk Soo, CEO of LG Innotek - a subsidiary specializing in electronic components and semiconductors of LG Group; Mr. Shin Dong Bin, Chairman of Lotte Group.
