On July 17, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee held a working session with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the operation of the industry and the implementation of a number of key tasks in the last 6 months of 2025.
At the meeting, Mr. Cao Quoc Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, reported on the operation situation after the merger of units in the three old provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh.
Currently, the apparatus has been basically completed with a total assigned payroll of 782 people, including 655 civil servants and public employees. The Department has also arranged working headquarters for departments and affiliated units at the old locations, and at the same time carried out repairs and renovations to ensure stable and uninterrupted workplaces to serve the people.
In terms of expertise, in the last 6 months of 2025, the Department will implement many major activities such as organizing national sports competitions, art fairs, promoting green tourism, surveying community tourism attractions, organizing traditional festivals and celebrating major holidays.
In addition, many projects and policies related to cultural heritage, family, library, press information... are also planned for implementation.

According to Mr. Dung, the initial operation process still faced some difficulties such as lack of new equipment and administrative software that were unfamiliar to officials, and no resting place for civil servants...
"Recommend the Provincial People's Committee to soon arrange more headquarters for the Relic Management Board, provide funding for equipment procurement, and support to stabilize the lives of civil servants and public employees," Mr. Dung added.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh acknowledged that the spirit of proactiveness, overcoming difficulties, and maintaining the work rhythm after the merger is very commendable. The province will continue to pay attention to and remove difficulties in headquarters and facilities so that the industry can work with peace of mind.
At the same time, it is recommended that the industry focus on reviewing and arranging personnel appropriately, avoiding overlap, ensuring effective operations, correct focus, and correct functions after the merger.
"In addition, it is necessary to strengthen coordination with departments, branches, localities and especially the press and media to promote propaganda of cultural, sports and tourism activities to people and tourists", the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized this content.
