Yesterday (March 15), nearly 79 million voters nationwide participated in the election of National Assembly (NA) deputies of the 16th term and People's Council (PC) deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. Results from the National Election Council show that as of 8 pm on the same day, over 99% of voters nationwide went to vote.
Based on the results of the summary of the 16th National Assembly Deputy election, the results of resolving complaints and denunciations related to the elected National Assembly Deputy, the National Election Council will proceed to confirm the status of the elected National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term, issue the Certificate of National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term to the elected person and report to the 16th National Assembly on the results of confirming the status of National Assembly Deputy at the first session of the National Assembly.
Based on the summary results of the election of People's Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term at their level, and the results of resolving complaints and denunciations related to the elected People's Council deputies, Election Committees at all levels shall confirm the status of the elected People's Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term of the level for which they are responsible for organizing elections.
Along with that, the Election Commission issues certificates of deputy of the People's Council for the 2026-2031 term to the elected person and reports to the new term People's Council on the results of confirming deputy status at the first session of the People's Council.
In case there are denunciations against the elected representative of the People's Council but there are no conclusions, verification results, or official responses from competent agencies and organizations, the Election Commissions at all levels still proceed to verify the qualifications of the elected representative of the People's Council at their level based on existing documents and conclusions.
The contents of denunciations that have not been concluded or have not been resolved are transferred to the Standing Committee of the new term People's Council for further consideration and resolution according to their authority.
In case the functional agency has concluded the inspection and confirmed that the elected representative of the People's Council has violated and is disciplined with the form of reprimand or higher, the Election Commission needs to consider and specifically assess the nature and severity of the violation.
If it is a violation of the law, not in accordance with the standards of a People's Council delegate to have good moral qualities, diligence, thrift, integrity, righteousness, impartiality, exemplary law compliance as stipulated in point c, clause 3, Article 5 of the Law on Organization of Local Government, then the Election Commission does not recognize the status of a People's Council delegate for this person.
In case after the elected person has been certified as a People's Council delegate and the new functional agency concludes that this person has violated the law and is not worthy of the people's trust, the new Standing Committee of the People's Council will consider and decide on reporting itself to the People's Council to dismiss the People's Council delegate or at the request of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the same level to report to voters to dismiss the People's Council delegate for the violating person according to regulations.
