BIDV receives "Best ESG Bank in Vietnam" award from Euromoney

Euromoney magazine honored BIDV as "Best ESG Bank in Vietnam" within the framework of the "Awards for Excellence 2026" awards ceremony taking place in Singapore.

The award aims to recognize the outstanding achievements of the bank in providing sustainable financial solutions, actively accompanying the business community and making practical contributions to the country's sustainable economic development strategy.

According to the national sustainable development orientation, BIDV identifies "Green" as one of the three pillars in the long-term development strategy.

On that basis, BIDV builds an overall ESG Strategy for the period 2026-2030, gradually integrating environmental, social and governance factors into banking operations, diversifying the portfolio of sustainable financial products and solutions. Specifically, BIDV has issued Sustainable Loan Framework 2.0 updating the National Green Classification List, Sustainable Deposit Framework 2.0, Transition Finance Framework and launched Sustainable Deposit product. By December 31, 2025, BIDV maintains its leading bank position in the market with a green credit balance of 82,332 billion VND, focusing on projects and business production plans that bring positive impacts on the environment and society.

According to Euromoney, this scale is of great significance in Vietnam - where capital for energy transition and low emission infrastructure is still limited - while affirming BIDV's position as one of the key capital channels to sustainable sectors. "The point that makes BIDV different is how the bank's initiatives bring real value to customers" - Euromoney emphasized.

In addition to products and services, BIDV proactively strengthens cooperation with financial institutions and international organizations such as the World Bank, ADB, JICA, AFD... to mobilize financial resources, receive technical and technological support, thereby supplementing resources to support customers in the green transition process. In March 2026, BIDV successfully withdrew a medium and long-term sustainable loan worth 250 million USD arranged by ADB, supplementing capital to support businesses.

BIDV is gradually participating more deeply in new initiatives, standards and infrastructure of green finance and climate finance markets. BIDV is the first Vietnamese commercial bank to become an Accredited Entity of the Green Climate Fund and join the Carbon Accounting Association for the Finance sector - PCAF. In June 2026, BIDV was selected by the State Securities Commission as the sole payment bank in the domestic carbon market in the pilot phase. This is an important preparation step for BIDV to participate more deeply in the carbon market ecosystem and support customers to adapt to the new requirements of the low-carbon economy.

Identifying sustainable development as a consistent orientation in operations, BIDV aims to continue to consolidate its leading position in ESG practice and green finance, towards the goal of net zero emissions (Net Zero). In the coming time, BIDV will continue to synchronously implement solutions: completing and implementing the ESG Strategy; expanding sustainable finance associated with environmental, social and climate risk management; developing financial solutions to support green transformation customers; strengthening the mobilization of ESG capital domestically and internationally; promoting digitization and greening of internal operations; improving the ESG capacity of the staff; and continuing to fulfill social responsibility and make positive contributions to the community.

The "Euromoney Awards for Excellence" aims to honor financial institutions that lead in operational efficiency, innovation and sustainable finance globally. This is one of the leading prestigious awards in the world banking industry thanks to a strict and transparent evaluation process, combining quantitative financial data and qualitative analysis from a team of independent experts.
