The event was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Defense Intelligence Day (October 25, 1945 - October 25, 2025) - a sacred milestone, with special significance for the National Defense Intelligence Forces and the people of the whole country.
Vinh Long province is a steadfast land, the birthplace of many outstanding children who have contributed to the glorious history of the Vietnamese nation; this is also the hometown of Colonel, Hero of the Vietnam People's Army, Executive Doctor Pham Ngoc Thao. He is a symbol of courage, intelligence and courage, an immortal heroic song about absolute trust in the Party, the people and the ideal of independence and freedom of the Fatherland. His life is a testament to the passionate patriotism, silent sacrifice and intelligence of the Vietnamese revolutionary intelligence soldier. In order to honor the great contributions of national heroes and at the same time spread the traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", since the end of 2024, BIDV has sponsored the construction of the Memorial House for Colonel, Hero of the Vietnam People's Army, Martyr Pham Ngoc Thao in An Hoi ward, Vinh Long province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: The Memorial of Colonel, Hero of the Vietnam People's Army, Martyr Pham Ngoc Thao is a symbol of gratitude, a source of pride for the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Long province. The project not only has special cultural and historical values, but is also a place to preserve, honor and spread the immortal values of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism. He respectfully thanked General Department II (Ministry of National Defense) and BIDV for accompanying the province in the implementation of the project, affirming that this is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of social responsibility, affection and good ethics of the units towards the community.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Loi - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of General Department II (Ministry of National Defense), affirmed: The Memorial House of Colonel, Hero of the Vietnam People's Army, and Martyr Pham Ngoc Thao is a work of profound political, historical and humanitarian significance, expressing the gratitude of today's generations to the loyal intelligence soldiers and the immortal heroes of the nation. The memorial house not only has the meaning of commemoration and gratitude, but is also a place to arouse the tradition of patriotism, strengthen political mettle, fighting spirit and revolutionary spirit for officers and soldiers in the entire army. The birth of the project also contributes to preserving and spreading the spiritual value of the National Defense Intelligence Forces - forces that have silently devoted and sacrificed to protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.
