On the night of October 28, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Ministry of Public Security said that in nearly 2 months of pilot implementation, the camera system applying artificial intelligence (AI) has recorded tens of thousands of cases of traffic safety violations, both on the highway and in the inner city of Hanoi.
According to statistics, from 12:00 on September 1 to 12:00 on October 27, 2025, AI cameras located at km20 of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway recorded 544,442 vehicles passing through, with an average speed of 71.47 km/h.
Thereby, the automatic system detected 3,787 cases of not wearing seat belts and 55 cases of using phones while driving. All violating data has been transferred to the vehicle owner for handling according to regulations.

In the inner city area, the pilot AI camera installed at the Pham Van Bach - Hoang Quan Chi intersection shows that violations are quite common.
In nearly 2 months, the system recorded 6,733 cases of motorbike and motorbike drivers not wearing helmets, 7,264 cases of running red lights and 90 cases of going in the wrong direction.
In addition, AI cameras on Le Van Luong Street also detected 317 cases of driving in the wrong lane. All violating data has been transferred to Hanoi City Police and functional units to carry out the handling process.

According to initial assessments, the pilot application of AI in traffic monitoring has contributed to improving the effectiveness of detecting violations, reducing the burden on traffic police forces, while creating deterrence and awareness of traffic law compliance for people.
Authorities are continuing to comprehensively evaluate to expand the deployment of AI systems on key routes, towards the goal of building smart cities and safer, more modern transportation.
