Psychological support is not symptomatic
As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the NHC Center for Psychology and Human Development in Ho Chi Minh City, the seminar "Psychological profession stories: From call to confidence" has brought an open and authentic sharing space about the psychological profession.
The program has the participation of: Dr. Vu Xuan Huong (Deputy Head of Psychology - Education Department, Nguyen Tat Thanh University); Ms. Cao Kim Tham (Psychology Director of NHC Phan Chu Trinh branch) and Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Duyen (Psychology Director of NHC Hoang Hoa Tham branch).
At NHC Vietnam Psychology, more than 3,000 customers experiencing problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, emotional disorders,... have gradually regained balance.
According to NHC experts, the support process is not simply "resolving symptoms", but working with customers to look back at the root problems that are dominating thoughts, emotions and behavior.
From there, each customer is built a separate roadmap, suitable for their problem. With the non-drug method, on average, this process lasts from 3 - 5 months, depending on the severity.
In many cases, experts have to play the role of "bridges" to help families better understand depression, learn to listen and accompany properly.
Within the framework of the Seminar, psychologist Hoang Thi Ngoc Duyen (Psychology Director of NHC Hoang Hoa Tham branch) shared: "The energy needed to work with people with depression is much higher than other jobs.
In addition to knowledge and skills, psychologists must maintain a sufficiently stable mental state to avoid being drawn into heavy emotions from customers. To do this, they need to maintain good habits to regenerate energy and maintain inner stability such as meditation, jogging, or practicing gratitude,...
Working as a psychologist requires a sufficiently strong heart.
At NHC Psychology, efficiency is not only a goal, but also a clear commitment to customers. This also means that each expert must have a very high sense of responsibility for the recovery of each customer.
Difficulties are like that, so every step of the customer, even very small, becomes a source of motivation for psychological experts to continue their work.

The greatest happiness of an expert is to see the smiles of customers," shared expert Cao Kim Tham (Psychology Director of NHC Phan Chu Trinh branch).
The journey to cure depression has never been easy. But after 5 years of development in Ho Chi Minh City, NHC Psychology is entering a new phase: not only supporting customers to feel secure and live healthily, but also expanding its role in spreading correct awareness of mental health in the community - so that no one has to silently endure the pain alone.
