Real Leather. Stay Different - International playground honors sustainable design
RLSD is part of the global Choose Real Leather campaign, initiated by the Leather & Hide Council of America (L&HCA). This campaign aims to honor the timeless value of natural leather - a durable, environmentally friendly material originating from a sustainable industry.
The RLSD contest has been held in many countries around the world and 2025 will mark the first time the contest has appeared in Vietnam. This is an opportunity for young talents to challenge themselves with a material with high applicable value, while contributing to promoting sustainable fashion trends in the country.
Why should you participate?
Opportunity to compete in international arenas: The best contestants will have the opportunity to participate in the global finals at one of the Leather Fashion capitals.
Prestigious awards: Opportunity to appear on international fashion platforms, interact with leading experts and receive support to develop your career.
practical experience with real leather material: Contestants must use at least 50% leather, helping students improve their skills with durable and valuable materials in the fashion industry.
Who can participate?
The contest is for all students majoring in fashion design, footwear and accessories at universities and colleges nationwide & students who love to create with real leather material. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese fashion students to challenge themselves, learn and express their creative thinking in front of the international fashion community.

About the American Academy of Dermatology (L&HCA)
The American Dermatology and Dermatology Association (L&HCA) is the founder and implementation of this campaign through its agency partners. The Association was established in 2020 after the merger of two professional associations, the American Dermatology, Skin and Skin Association (established in 1979) and American Dermatology Industry (established in 1917).
L&HCA represents about 75 member companies, providing services including government relations, public relations and trade support. The Association's mission is to protect and develop a strong and sustainable leather market worldwide - for the benefit of members and the supply chain.
L&HCA promotes the quality of products sourced from the United States, promotes the best practices in sustainability and traceability, and provides educational and technical information to support the industry globally. The Association also cooperates with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop new markets for agricultural exports.

Choose Real Leather is a global campaign funded by the American Dermatology and Leather Association (L&HCA). Through a design competition for Real Leather students. Stay Different., the campaign has successfully reached thousands of students, promoting leather as a sustainable and long-term alternative to fast fashion.
Campaign to support the best use of social waste, along with the competition, this campaign communicates to consumers around the world to promote better understanding and appreciation of leather, while promoting leather purchases.
