Promoting digital business, HDBANK forecasts 6-month interest of VND10.068 billion, ROE up to 26.5%

On July 30, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank - stock code HDB) announced its business results for the second quarter and accumulated for the first 6 months of 2025 with a profit exceeding 10,068 billion, up 23.3% over the same period. operational efficiency and safety indicators continue to be in the leading group of the whole industry

In the second quarter of 2025, HDBank achieved over VND 4,713 billion in pre-tax profit and accumulated VND 10,068 billion in the first 6 months of the year - the highest semi-annual profit ever and exceeding VND 10,000 billion.

Positive credit growth, effective risk management

In the first 6 months of 2025, HDBank's net interest income reached VND 17,227 billion, up 15.8% over the same period last year. Non-interest income from payment service activities, digital banking, foreign currency trading... broke out strongly by over 210% over the same period, contributing to the total operating income increasing by 30% to VND 20,840 billion. At the same time, the effectiveness of digital transformation is clearly demonstrated with optimized operating costs, helping the CIR rate improve strongly to an impressive 25.5%.

With the above results, HDBank continues to lead the whole industry in operational efficiency with the return on equity (ROE) reaching 26.5%; the return on total assets (ROA) reaching a high rate of 2.2%. The bad debt ratio according to the regulations of the SBV continues to be controlled at a low level of 1.94%. The capital improvement coefficient (CAR) is over 13% (according to Basel II standards). Other safety indicators are guaranteed to be at a good level compared to the industry.

As of June 30, 2025, HDBank's total assets exceeded VND 784 trillion, up 12.4% over the beginning of the year. Mobilized VND664 trillion increased by 7%. Outstanding loans exceeded VND517 trillion, up 18.2% compared to the beginning of the year and nearly double the general level of the whole industry (up 9.9%), targeting priority sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, consumption and the growth drivers of the economy with low risks. The bank is actively implementing major programs according to the orientation of the Government and the State Bank such as loans for social housing development and young home buyers, credit packages for the infrastructure and digital technology sector, value chains, loans for rural areas and high-tech agriculture, green credit...

Member units of the HD Financial Group financial group such as HD SAISON Financial Company or Vikki Digital Bank Limited - the only bank that did not fire employees among banks transferred under the Government's banking sector restructuring program - also recorded 6 positive months with the number of app downloads exceeding 1 million in just 5 months of operation. The number of financial transaction points of HD SAISON has exceeded 27,100 points, serving 15.5 million customers. Pre-tax profit in the first 6 months of the year reached VND 709 billion, up 18% over the same period.

At Vikki Digital Bank, after a comprehensive transformation from Dong A bank to a new-generation digital bank, this attractive and youthful brand has recorded more than 1 million app downloads, opened more than 600,000 new accounts in just 5 months of operation, showing strong acceptance by the market.

HD Securities Company also achieved a profit of VND 382 billion with a ROE of 29%, in the group of 10 companies with the highest profit, with income mainly from services.

Breakthrough in digital business, leading in governance standards

In the second quarter, digital business programs continued to be strongly implemented, bringing positive results with 75% of new customers attracted through digital channels. The number of transactions on digital platforms increased by 51% and the rate of individual customer transactions conducted on digital channels accounted for 94% of total transactions. Digital solutions for enterprises continue to be launched and continuously improved, contributing to increasing the number of customers and business efficiency.

Other major technology projects such as AI application, machine learning in governance, training, automation of operations... continue to accelerate. HDBank is pioneering the deployment of advanced core banking technology and new-generation digital banking super applications. These transformations not only improve the user experience but also create a foundation for the bank to develop comprehensive, personalized and expanded digital financial models connecting the digital ecosystem.
