Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung said that over the years, under the leadership of the Party, poverty reduction and social security work has become a bright spot, with historical significance, people's lives have been gradually improved, the gap between rich and poor has gradually narrowed. However, on the S-shaped strip of land, there are still hundreds of thousands of households living in temporary houses, with thatched earth, not safe enough from natural disasters and storms.
From that reality, at the end of 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made a historic decision: launching the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025". This is not only a movement for social security but a call from the heart to the heart, arousing the strength of the entire political system, armed forces, socio-political organizations and each Vietnamese people.
After 1 year, 4 months and 13 days since the launch and 10 months and 21 days of the peak of "450 days and nights", the whole country has recorded an important milestone: basically completing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching the finish line 5 years and 4 months earlier than the plan set by Resolution 42.
As a result, 334,234 temporary houses, dilapidated houses, and houses that are not guaranteed have been replaced with solid houses; Nearly VND50,000 billion has been mobilized, of which more than VND24,000 billion comes from the State budget, VND5,070 billion from regular expenditure savings in 2024, VND1,940 billion from increased budget revenue, the Ministry of National Defense contributes nearly VND1,000 billion, more than 140,980 officers, soldiers, militia with 414,520 working days and 62,920 vehicles; the Ministry of Public Security supports over VND790 billion, mobilizes more than 27,400 officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security with 534,000 working days and thousands of tons of construction materials...
In that big picture of national stature, the banking industry has been affirmed as one of the shock forces, contributing significantly to the overall success of the program "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". Not only taking on the responsibility of stabilizing the macro economy, controlling inflation, and regulating capital flows for production and business, the banking sector also strongly promotes the spirit of social responsibility. More than VND1,800 billion has been mobilized in just over a year from the banking system, showing practical and timely support for the goal of sustainable security so that "no one is left behind".
Among them, Agribank - the largest state-owned commercial bank, closely linked to agriculture, farmers and rural areas, has demonstrated its pioneering role, taking the lead with specific actions, spreading from mountainous areas, plains to remote islands. From 2024 to June 30, 2025, Agribank has supported the program of building houses of gratitude, houses for the poor, solidarity houses, and eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses with a total cost of VND 422,515 million. Of which, support for the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households under the Prime Minister's launched program is 254,100 million VND; in addition, staff and employees in the entire system have donated 1 day's salary to build 1,000 houses under the program of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union with an amount of 12.8 billion VND; The total support for these two programs is 266,900 million VND.

In 2024, at the launching ceremony of the "Warm home for my compatriots" program in Hanoi, Agribank contributed 100 billion VND, an impressive figure that shows heart and responsibility. Next, banks sponsored 20 billion VND in Hoa Binh and tens of billions of VND for provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Long An, Quang Nam...
In 2025, Agribank will continue to implement many support packages, typically 25 billion VND for the Southwest region, 15 billion VND for Thanh Hoa, 2 billion VND for Tuyen Quang, 5 billion VND for Lam Dong... These support packages have quickly become practical, helping thousands of poor and near-poor households have solid houses to settle down and make a living.
Notably, on May 17, 2025, all Agribank staff and employees voluntarily contributed one day's salary, contributing 12.8 billion VND. That collective action not only carries material value but also demonstrates the humane culture of a "Bank for the Community" that has been deeply imbued with each employee. The numbers are not simply financial statistics, but are the bricks that build thousands of houses of gratitude and great solidarity, creating a foundation for settlement for people nationwide.

Agribank's honor to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister at the Conference summarizing the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" shows the appreciation of the Party and State for the bank's contributions. This is not only a financial recognition but also an affirmation of the humanistic identity and sense of social responsibility of Agribank - a typical state-owned enterprise that is always at the forefront of sharing with the community.
Each newly built house with Agribank's mark is the embodiment of the sustainable development philosophy of taking the community as the center, taking people as the highest goal. solid shelters not only help people stabilize their lives but also add faith and hope for a future of escape poverty and rise up to become rich legitimately. At a higher level, that support is Agribank's way of concretizing the spirit of "leaving no one behind", while contributing to strengthening people's trust in the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and State. That is Agribank's practical contribution to the journey to build a prosperous and happy Vietnam for a developed and sustainable community.
