In the top sports village, achievements and victories are often put first. However, the case of table tennis player Le Dinh Duc - who almost lost his career and ability to travel without Mr. Hien's humane decision - proved that compassion is also an extremely important " shaft" for long-term success - a factor that the press has named "a very humane decision" in Mr. Hien's case.

It was his timely and affectionate attention that kept Germany's goal for table tennis unfinished, while at the same time bringing Vietnamese sports a bright talent that was almost lost. After that turning point, Le Dinh Duc returned with extraordinary will to achieve a series of achievements. Most recently, at the national championship in May 2025, Le Dinh Duc and his teammates Dinh Anh Hoang were the pillars that helped the T&T People's Public Security Club win the men's team gold medal and the men's doubles gold medal.
Back in 2013, when Duc was seriously ill and faced the risk of disability, Mr. Do Quang Hien of Hanoi T&T Table Tennis Club - chose to act according to the call of "the word Heart". Instead of leaving the fate of a young athlete who may no longer be able to contribute to achievements, he decided to invest money and effort to treat Duc.
This decision comes primarily from compassion: "Even if Duc cannot compete in the future, we must help him to walk and live like a normal person" - Mr. Hien's advice resounds kind. Thanks to that help, Duc was given a second chance, not only recovering his health but also returning to the professional arena.
Each dosage of specific medicine for Germany at that time cost more than 20 million VND - a huge amount compared to the income of a young athlete - but thanks to the full support from Mr. Hien, funding was never a barrier to the treatment process.

The value of this charity is clearly demonstrated in the subsequent achievements. Three years after the incident, Le Dinh Duc stood up from the hospital bed, holding a racket and entering tournaments with extraordinary determination. He not only regained his form but also continuously achieved success in the national arena, becoming one of the pillars of the T&T People's Police table tennis team.
If it were not for Mr. Hien's heart in the past, that talent probably would never have had time to shine. In other words, the kindness of sports people has directly contributed to producing an excellent athlete, bringing more glory to the country's sports.
Not only that, the spreading effect of such humane actions also contributes to creating a more positive sports environment. The story of Mr. Hien - Le Dinh Duc has become a source of inspiration for teammates and young people, helping them understand that in sports there is always room for humanity and mutual support.

The spirit of solidarity in the T&T People's Police table team became even more durable when all members join hands to help Germany overcome difficulties. According to experts, it is the atmosphere rich in humanity that is the foundation for the team to achieve sustainable success later. Indeed, just a few years after Germany returned, the T&T People's Police Club has risen to become a new force, constantly winning national titles and contributing many players to the national team.
It is no coincidence that in modern sports development strategies, ethical factors and social responsibility are increasingly promoted in parallel with the achievement goal. Sports that only focus on medals but ignore people will be difficult to sustain; on the contrary, an environment that promotes human values will nurture athletes to develop harmoniously both professionally and mentally.
Obviously, human factors and compassion have proven to be key roles in the development of professional sports. Le Dinh Duc's story itself is mentioned by the press as a beautiful testament to the "Heart" of Mr. Hien - a sportsman who is always responsible for people and the community.
The success of the T&T People's Police table tennis team in particular and Mr. Hien's contributions to Vietnamese sports in general show that: when human values are placed as a foundation, professional achievements will come more sustainably and meaningfully. Compassion does not reduce the competitiveness of sports, on the contrary, it adds motivation and confidence, helping athletes overcome their limits to reach the top.
