Petrovietnam/PV GAS signs and awards documents for the Nam Du - U Minh mine development project, contributing to ensuring national energy security.

On April 20, in Hanoi, the signing and handover ceremony of documents of the Nam Du mine development project, Lot 46/07 and U Minh mine, Lot 51 took place between Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrovietnam), Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) and partners.

This is an important milestone in the process of realizing the Nam Du - U Minh gas project, creating a foundation to bring new gas sources to serve socio-economic development, while contributing to ensuring national energy security.

Attending the signing ceremony were Mr. Cao Anh Tuan - Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

On Petrovietnam's side were Mr. Le Ngoc Son - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Member Council of the Group; Mr. Le Xuan Huyen - Deputy General Director in charge of the Group's Executive Board; along with members of the Member Council and the Board of Directors;

On the side of PV GAS were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Pham Van Phong - General Director; along with members of the Board of Directors, Board of General Directors;

On the side of Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation - JSC were Mr. Hoang Van Quang - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors; along with members of the Board of Directors, Board of General Directors;

On Jadestone Energy's side is Mr. Thomas Mitchell Little - General Director of the Company.

Nam Du mine, Lot 46/07 at Be Malay - Tho Chu is operated by contractor Mitra Energy (Vietnam Nam Du) Pte. Ltd and U Minh mine, Lot 51 at Be Malay - Tho Chu is operated by contractor Mitra Energy (Vietnam Tho Chu) Pte. Ltd according to product division contracts signed with Petrovietnam. The plan to develop Nam Du mine, Lot 46/07 and U Minh mine, Lot 51 has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Decision No. 477/QD-BCT dated March 18, 2026, creating an important legal basis for the parties to move to the synchronous, methodical and effective implementation phase.

At the ceremony, Mr. Thomas Mitchell Little – General Director of Jadestone Energy expressed his appreciation for the spirit of cooperation and efforts of the parties in the negotiation process that created important conditions for the project to reach key milestones. He expressed his belief that the cooperative relationship between the parties will continue to be strengthened, towards the goal of providing stable, safe and efficient gas sources for the Ca Mau region, serving socio-economic development and people's lives.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Pham Van Phong - General Director of PV GAS said that in the context of declining domestic gas sources, the signing of a gas purchase and sale contract from the Nam Du - U Minh field is of special strategic significance. With total estimated reserves of about 4.44 billion m3 and a supply output of about 700 million m3/year, this gas source is expected to meet about 30% of consumption demand in the Ca Mau area, contributing to supplementing an important supply source for the Southwest region in the period from the end of 2028 to 2035.

Mr. Pham Van Phong - General Director of PV GAS affirmed the sustainable cooperation process in the spirit of exploiting and using resources effectively for national interests.

Mr. Pham Van Phong emphasized that the results achieved today are the result of a persistent cooperation process, overcoming many challenges in terms of technology, trade and law between stakeholders, in the spirit of effectively exploiting and using resources for national interests. In the coming time, PV GAS is committed to continuing to closely coordinate with partners to deploy projects and implement contracts safely and effectively; and at the same time wishes to continue to receive the attention and direction of ministries, sectors, Petrovietnam and reliable cooperation from partners to soon realize the set goals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Xuan Huyen - Deputy General Director in charge of Petrovietnam's Executive Board emphasized that the signing of these documents is an important legal basis, creating a foundation for implementing the next steps of the Nam Du - U Minh Project, and at the same time opening up prospects for supplementing strategic gas sources for the Southwest region.

Gas from the project is expected to make an important contribution to balancing the supply and demand of energy in the region, ensuring stable operation of power plants, meeting the increasing demand of industrial production and socio-economic development. Mr. Le Xuan Huyen proposed that in the coming time, the parties continue to strengthen close coordination, implement the project on schedule, ensuring safety and efficiency.
