World gold prices fell amid an increase in the USD index. Recorded at 0:15 on November 27, the US Dollar Index, which measures the greenback's fluctuations against six major currencies, was at 106.840 points (up 0.07%).
Gold prices edged up on Tuesday, after hitting a more than one-week low in the previous session, as safe-haven demand for the metal eased. The precious metal had earlier fallen more than 3%, its steepest one-day drop in more than five months, on news that Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah were moving closer to a ceasefire deal, and pressure from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Scott Bessent as U.S. Treasury Secretary.
Gold was pressured mainly by increased investor risk appetite, said Ricardo Evangelista, senior analyst at ActivTrades. "Positive geopolitical developments, including reports of a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, have dampened demand for the precious metal," Evangelista said.
Forecasting the gold trend in the coming time, Darin Newsom from Barchart said that gold prices may have some short-term corrections. However, in the long term, Newsom believes that gold will continue to increase in price.
