Gold prices fall, buyers lose up to 37.5 million VND/tael after 5 months

Gold bar price decreases by more than 30 million VND/tael

Compared to February 16, 2026, SJC gold bar prices at large gold trading enterprises have decreased sharply in both buying and selling directions.

On February 16, DOJI listed SJC gold bar prices at 176-179 million VND/tael. By July 16, gold prices at this enterprise decreased to 145.2-148.2 million VND/tael.

After 5 months, the buying and selling prices of SJC gold bars at DOJI both decreased by 30.8 million VND/tael. People who bought gold at 179 million VND/tael on February 16, if they resold it on July 16 at 145.2 million VND/tael, would lose 33.8 million VND/tael.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau, the SJC gold bar price on February 16 was listed at 178-181 million VND/tael. Currently, the gold price has decreased to 143.5-147.5 million VND/tael.

The buying price at Bao Tin Minh Chau decreased by 34.5 million VND/tael, while the selling price decreased by 33.5 million VND/tael. This is also the brand that recorded the highest loss in the survey group. SJC gold bar buyers 5 months ago are currently losing 37.5 million VND/tael.

Meanwhile, Phu Quy listed SJC gold bar prices on February 16 at 176-179 million VND/tael. By July 16, gold prices were adjusted down to 144.7-148.2 million VND/tael.

Compared to 5 months ago, the buying price decreased by 31.3 million VND/tael and the selling price decreased by 30.8 million VND/tael. Gold buyers in Phu Quy are currently suffering a loss of 34.3 million VND/tael.

Thus, people who bought SJC gold bars on February 16 are currently losing from 33.8-37.5 million VND/tael, depending on the brand.

Gold ring buyers suffer heavy losses

Not only gold bars, the price of 9999 plain round gold rings also decreased by more than 30 million VND/tael after 5 months.

At DOJI, the price of gold rings on February 16 was 175.6-178.6 million VND/tael. By July 16, the price decreased to 143.2-147.2 million VND/tael.

During this period, the buying price decreased by 32.4 million VND/tael, and the selling price decreased by 31.4 million VND/tael. Gold ring buyers at DOJI are currently losing 35.4 million VND/tael.

Bao Tin Minh Chau listed the price of gold rings on February 16th at 178-181 million VND/tael. Currently, the price of gold rings at this enterprise is only 143.5-147.5 million VND/tael.

The buying price decreased by 34.5 million VND/tael and the selling price decreased by 33.5 million VND/tael. If selling gold at the present time, buyers will lose 37.5 million VND/tael.

In Phu Quy, the price of gold rings decreased from 175.7-178.7 million VND/tael to 143.5-147 million VND/tael. The buying price decreased by 32.2 million VND/tael, while the selling price decreased by 31.7 million VND/tael. Gold ring buyers here are currently losing 35.2 million VND/tael.

World gold prices fall by nearly 20%

Domestic gold prices decreased sharply partly due to the impact of the downward trend of the world market. On February 16, the world gold price was at 5,023.4 USD/ounce, but by July 16 it was only 4,031.6 USD/ounce, down 991.8 USD/ounce. This development created additional adjustment pressure on domestic SJC gold bars and gold rings.

After 5 months, world gold prices fell 991.8 USD/ounce, equivalent to a decrease of about 19.74%.

In the context of strong gold price fluctuations, people need to be cautious and avoid the fear of missing opportunities (FOMO). The buying - selling difference is currently very high, commonly from 3-4 million VND/tael, causing buyers to immediately suffer a large loss immediately after trading.

In case the decline in world gold prices continues, the domestic gold market may face additional adjustment pressure. Buyers using borrowed capital, short-term investment or buying gold at high prices are at risk of deeper losses.
