Chronic kidney failure has plagued Ms. Danh Thi Ngoc Tuyet (born in 1999), residing in Quarter 2, Thu Ba Town, An Bien District, Kien Giang Province, for the past 8 years. Family life was already difficult, and illness made her family even more miserable.
Ms. Tuyet confided that her husband - Mr. Lam Manh (born in 1980) - works as a bricklayer, earning about 350,000 VND per day. That amount of money was spent on charging for the minimum expenses in the house, most of which were spent on treating his wife.
No matter how hard it is, Mr. Manh is always a pillar, the one who carries the whole family, but the storm has not stopped there. Not long ago, her eldest daughter, Lam Thi Bich Lien (born in 2005) - was also diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. Not only did Lien have regular dialysis, he also had to be transferred to Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) to closely monitor his health condition.
More than 20 years of husband and wife, life is not enough, but the joy of their families is the motivation for Mrs. Tuyet and her husband to overcome all difficulties. But now, in addition to the worry of fighting illnesses, they also have to rush to borrow everywhere to take care of the cost of treatment, medicine and living expenses in the days when girls at the hospital. Up to now, the family's debt has reached 20 million.
In recent days, the local government has accompanied Ms. Tuyet's family and called on benefactors to join hands to help. Mr. Truong Thanh Nha - Chairman of the Thu Ba Town Red Cross Society, said: "The locality also mobilized and supported but only helped Ms. Tuyet's family somewhat. Both mother and child are seriously ill and need long-term treatment costs, I hope that kind-hearted people from near and far can share and help Ms. Tuyet's family".
Seeing her husband struggling to make money, seeing her teenage daughter carrying a terrible disease, Mrs. Tuyet's heart was filled with grief. After 3 weeks of dialysis, Ms. Tuyet's free time at home is to pick up some rice and water, taking care of her young child to go to school.
"I myself am sick, but I use my family as motivation to overcome it, but when I learned that my eldest daughter was also sick, I felt very hurt. I just hope to have money to treat my child's illness, it will be long in the future and I will be fine," Ms. Tuyet confided.
Hopefully, kind-hearted people will join hands to extend hope, give love, so that Mrs. Tuyet and her children have more opportunities to fight against illness, continue their journey of life and love.
