Amidst a small house filled with garbage and the sighing of a weak old man, the boy Gia Bao still quietly tries every day to avoid falling apart in the midst of the great lacks in life.
When the family is left with only three weak men
The road leading to the old hamlet in An Thanh commune (Hai Phong city). There, the family of Dong Gia Bao - a 6A student at Kim Tan Secondary School - struggled to live in a small house with dark electricity, surrounded by the smell of garbage from plastic bags, plastic bottles, and waste items that her father brought home to sell for a living.
Her parents divorced when she was very young. Bao lived with his father and grandfather. His father has a neurological disease, when he is busy picking up trash, he keeps some to eat, and when he is busy, he gives it to his grandfather to take care of his children. He grew up, his eyes were blurred, his hands were often shaking, he became the one who took care of his sick son and his elderly grandchild.
But his health was weak, and his family did not have any subsidies.
Bao's grandmother has been missing for more than 5 years, and is a mutual resignation. The family had only three men who depended on each other to survive. When his father started to get sick, Bao and he had to run to relatives' houses to take care of him during the difficult days.
However, the boy still studies well, is still polite, and always "hides" his sadness so as not to worry him. The teacher said that there were times when he went to class, Bao still laughed and was still sociable, but his voice was always cautious, afraid that one day, his grandfather would no longer have enough strength to hold on to this fragile life.

Call on hearts to step side by side with you
In recent days, the story of Gia Bao's situation has been mobilized and called for support by the Youth Union of An Thanh commune. Ms. Tran Thi Mai - Secretary of the Commune Youth Union was the one who went directly to the house many times to grasp the situation and connect resources.
She said that the first time she entered the house, she "paused for a few seconds" because the garbage piled up, but inside that cramped and dark pile was a shy, polite boy, who ran out to buy water.
"I understand the whole thing very well. I always say: When my father and I get better, I will have less hardship. Hearing that line, I felt heartbroken. His grandfather is old, and his father's illness does not know how it will turn.
We just hope that organizations and donors will help me have a reserve to study with peace of mind, said Ms. Mai.
Perhaps, the most necessary thing for Bao now is not just a few meals to overcome difficulties. That is a future opened up, so that Bao does not have to bear the fear of "one day he will no longer be able to survive".
In the story, Bao's grandfather always says: "I'm just afraid that no one will take care of it in the future. The boy is good, can learn..., I just hope he doesn't drop out of school".
Life has children born on the most rough soil than others. But children like Gia Bao, who know how to strive, love their relatives, and keep their studies, always deserve to be protected.
Hopefully, the appeal of the An Thanh Commune Youth Union will touch many hearts. So that in that small house that was once full of garbage and anxiety, there will be more light of a less uncertain future for him.
