Baby Tran Nhu Y (born in 2015, residing in Quarter 6, Long Binh Ward, Dong Nai) has been living in a series of long days of tirelessly running for treatment of serious illnesses for the past 5 years.
Nhu Y was diagnosed with a bulge in the scalp deep in the brain, right next to the aims of the liver, causing her condition to always be at risk of threatening her life.
Nhu Y's family was already in difficulty, the illness came as a surprise, pushing all members into a state of exhaustion both mentally and financially.
It is known that Mr. Tran Dinh Trung (Nhu Y's father) works as a hired water transporter with an unstable income, while his mother, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen Tran, has quit her job for many years to take care of her sick child.
In July 2020, Nhu Y began to show signs of severe headaches and eyelid deviation. Worried about her child's unusual symptoms, Ms. Tran took her child to the hospital for examination.
The results of the diagnosis of Nhu Y's scalp tumor made her dizzy. The first days of admission to Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) were a horrifying time for young mothers when they witnessed many children carrying the same serious disease as their children.
Also because of fear and impasse, there was a time when Ms. Tran took her child home and went to her husband's medicine for four years, hoping to hold on to hope.
But Nhu Y's condition became more and more serious. The headaches gradually increase, vision decreases, and the body gradually loses the sense of balance.
In October 2024, the child had to be hospitalized for emergency care and a temporomandibular Tube to relieve endocrinal pressure. Just three months later, in January 2025, the drainage tube was blocked, forcing the child to undergo a second surgery. By August 2025, the congestion recurred, forcing Nhu Y to lie in the operating room for the third time.
On September 17, 2025, the family took him to Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi) for surgical intervention to remove the tumor.
This is a particularly dangerous surgery, because the tumor is located close to the seenline, the area that controls many vital functions of the body.
Although the surgery was a partial success, the doctor confirmed that the tumor could not be removed. This means Nhu Y will have to live with the disease for the rest of her life.
After many surgeries, the child's health was exhausted. He was often agitated, screaming, electrolyte imbalance, water imbalance, and recurrent pneumonia.

Sometimes the child was just tired and unconscious. Ms. Tran choked up as she shared that her baby's tumor could re-grow at any time. Every time her child is in pain, she can only pray because the family can no longer afford to pay.
The cost of Nhu Y's treatment has so far exceeded 70 million VND, excluding drugs outside the insurance list. The family had to borrow money from everywhere, even mortgage their house to take care of their children. Meanwhile, little Tran Thien Quoc (born in 2018), Nhu Y's younger brother, has not been able to go to school yet due to difficult family circumstances.
Regarding the case of child Nhu Y, the Social Work Department of Viet Duc Hospital informed that patient Tran Nhu Y, 10 years old, with a traumatic brain tumor, has undergone many surgeries and seepage tubes. Currently, the patient has vision loss, severe prognosis, and is at high risk of recurrence. Pediatric patients need long-term and expensive treatment.
