tragedy continues to happen...
3 years ago, a major incident occurred to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong (born in 1982, residing in Tra Duong village, Tong Tran commune, Hung Yen province) when her husband, Mr. Ha Duy Hung (born in 1975), was diagnosed with lung cancer and stomach cancer at the same time. During more than a year of treatment at K Hospital, Ms. Huong had to borrow money from everywhere, carrying a debt of nearly 1 billion VND to cover the cost of treatment for her husband.
Despite his best efforts, just over a year later, at the end of 2023, Mr. Hung passed away. That woman became the only pillar of the family, raising three young children alone when the pain of losing her husband had not yet subsided, and the burden of debt was still piling up.
When life is not yet stable, tragedy continues to happen. On the morning of November 28, while taking her two young children, Ha Duy Duc (7 years old) and Ha Thanh Ngoc (10 years old) to school, Ms. Huong unfortunately had a traffic accident. The strong collision caused both parents and children to fall onto the concrete road.
After being treated at a local hospital, due to serious injuries, Ms. Huong and Duc were transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital. According to doctors from the Department of Cardiology - Thoracic Surgery, Ms. Huong suffered a fracture of the left leg of the third degree Celsius, tendon rupture, muscle rupture, artery rupture, and left leg rupture in three sections.

This is a particularly serious lesion, with a high risk of infection, requiring multiple surgeries, possibly requiring a skin transplant, a blood vessel transplant and even facing the risk of amputation if it goes wrong.
Costs up to hundreds of millions of VND
Her son, Ha Duy Duc, was also seriously injured with a closed fracture of the left tibia, a large tear, almost all of his skin and skin being sluggish, exposing his muscles and bones. The child is currently being temporarily fixed and treated at the lower limb surgery department of Viet Duc Hospital. Meanwhile, Ha Thanh Ngoc had a broken left arm, had been put in powder at Hung Yen General Hospital, and has now been discharged from the hospital but is still panicked and in pain.
Since Ms. Huong and baby Duc were transferred to the central treatment line, the cost has reached hundreds of millions of VND and is expected to continue to increase. The mother and child had to undergo many surgeries and use many expensive drugs, and were not covered by health insurance.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Huong's family said that after the surgery, the doctors were forced to remove deep necrotizing tissue and currently need more time to stabilize the wound before continuing with further treatment options.
The People's Committee of Tong Tran commune confirmed that Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong is a citizen residing in the locality, belonging to a near-poor household. Her husband died of cancer in 2023, the family has three young children, one of whom is in grade 10, the other is in grade 5 and the other is in grade 2. Ms. Huong is a member of the Women's Union, the Commune Farmers' Union, and is the main breadwinner for her children.
The People's Committee of the commune confirmed that the traffic accident that occurred on the morning of November 28 caused Ms. Huong and her son Ha Duy Duc to be seriously injured and had to be treated for a long time at Viet Duc Hospital; Ha Thanh Ngoc's daughter broke her arm and was treated at Hung Yen General Hospital.
After the accident, the family was in a particularly difficult situation in paying for treatment, care and stabilizing their lives. Local authorities requested agencies, units and organizations to pay attention and create support conditions so that the family can soon overcome this particularly difficult period.
