The women's 25m sports pistol event was a highlight of the competition day. Trinh Thu Vinh and teammates Nguyen Thuy Trang created a dramatic competition, both of them scored 34 points and broke the SEA Games record. In the decisive play-off series, Trinh Thu Vinh showed outstanding bravery when coming back to win 3-2 after falling 0-2, thereby winning the gold medal, while Nguyen Thuy Trang received the silver medal.
Not only successful in the individual event, Trinh Thu Vinh also contributed greatly to helping the Vietnamese shooting team win the gold medal in the women's team's 25m pistol event. In total, at the 33rd SEA Games, the shooter born in 2000 won 4 gold medals and broke 3 conference records.
Trinh Thu Vinh's four gold medals came from events including 25m women's sports sungline, 25m women's team sungline, 10m women's team sungline and 10m women's air sungline, in which 3 events of 10m and 25m team sungline broke the SEA Games record. This achievement shows that Trinh Thu Vinh is not only excellent in individual competitions but is also an important pillar in collective events.
Notably, this is the first time Trinh Thu Vinh has won a gold medal at a SEA Games, after participating in the 31st SEA Games but has not touched the highest medal.
