Voices from the landslide area of Nam Tra My
In the afternoon of March 7, in Nam Tra My commune, Da Nang, candidates for the 16th National Assembly of electoral unit No. 5 had the last meeting with voters in a series of election campaign conferences in 27 communes and wards of former Quang Nam province.
The conference atmosphere was frank and close. Stories from villages, from flood worries to long-term livelihoods, were frankly sent by voters to candidates.

Standing up to speak, voter Ho Van Hien, from Tac Po village, Nam Tra My commune, said that every rainy season, his whole family lives in a state of anxiety because the house is located next to the hillside - where many landslides have occurred.
Just a few days of prolonged heavy rain and people will lose sleep. We hope to have more safe resettlement areas so that people no longer have to worry every rainy and storm season," voter Hien said.

According to local people, many residential areas are still located in areas at high risk of landslides, while conditions for relocation and safe land allocation are still limited. Therefore, voters proposed to pay more attention to population planning, building warning systems and investing in transport infrastructure to facilitate disaster response.

Besides natural disasters, a new concern is also mentioned by voters: cyber fraud is creeping into remote and isolated areas.
According to people's reflections, many subjects have impersonated police, banks or announced winnings to scam money. Due to limited access to information technology, many mountainous people have become victims.
Some people lose tens of millions of VND just because they believe the words of scammers over the phone," voter Nguyen Duc Thanh said and proposed to strengthen propaganda and guide people to identify scam tricks.
Voters hope to find a sustainable escape from poverty
A topic mentioned by many voters is forest economic development associated with Ngoc Linh ginseng - a precious medicinal herb considered a "national treasure" of the Ngoc Linh mountains.
According to voters, ginseng has opened up a new direction for the local economy, helping many households have more income. However, expanding planting areas, protecting seed sources, technical support and building brands still need to be invested methodically.
People keep the forest also to keep ginseng. If the forest economy and Ngoc Linh ginseng are developed well, people can escape poverty sustainably," said voter Ho Van Ni, former Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the former Nam Tra My District People's Committee.

Among the candidates for National Assembly deputies in constituency No. 5, two candidates who are highland teachers - Ho Thi Hiet and Dinh Thi Mia - received attention from voters.
As a teacher at Vo Nguyen Giap Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, Tra Tap commune, Ms. Dinh Thi Mia believes that poverty reduction in mountainous areas cannot be separated from education. This is the basic way to change the lives of mountainous children.
According to Ms. Mia, many highland students still have to walk kilometers to school, learning conditions are still lacking, and the risk of dropping out of school is still present.

If trusted by voters, I hope to contribute a stronger voice to invest in mountainous education. When children are fully educated, that is the most sustainable way to escape poverty," Ms. Mia shared.
Talking to voters, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, central mass organizations, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, representative of candidates, said that the opinions of the people of Nam Tra My are very practical issues, accurately reflecting the concerns of mountainous people.

The opinions of the people today are the responsibility for us to continue to strive. National Assembly deputies must listen, accompany and act for the legitimate rights of voters" - Mr. Tuan said.
He emphasized that if trusted by voters, candidates will actively and truthfully reflect the people's recommendations to the National Assembly and competent agencies, and at the same time monitor and urge the settlement to the end.
