For many months now, the corridor of the Department of Oncology - Clinical Hematology of Thai Binh Children's Hospital, Hung Yen province has almost become a familiar residence for Ms. Nguy Thi Hong (born in 1996, residing in Quang Tien village, Cat Thanh commune, Ninh Binh province). Next to the hospital bed, the young mother quietly takes care of her son, Nguyen Duc Tri (born in 2017), who is fighting blood cell proliferation syndrome (HLH) - a rare and dangerous disease.
Although only 9 years old, Tri is used to long days in the hospital, far from school and class and peers. Looking at her son's thinness after many treatments, Ms. Hong choked up and said: "Tri was diagnosed with the disease when he was only 5 years old. Prolonged high fevers, thin and weak body, so the family took him to the doctor many times. After examination, it was discovered that he had hematopoietic syndrome.

When I heard the news that my child had a serious illness, I almost collapsed. At that time, I only knew how to pity my child because he was too young and had to endure pain," Ms. Hong said.
Since her child got sick, the lives of Ms. Hong and Mr. Nguyen Van Uoc (born in 1993) have fallen into accumulated difficulties. Ms. Hong has had to temporarily quit her job as a worker for more than a year to be on duty to take care of her child for treatment. All living expenses and medicine depend on Mr. Uoc's freelance work.
There were times when my child was hospitalized continuously, the cost of medicine and travel was too high, my husband and I had to borrow everywhere. When there was no other way, the family had to sell the house they were living in to have money for their child's treatment," Ms. Hong choked up.
Talking to PV of Lao Dong Newspaper, leaders of Cat Thanh commune, Ninh Binh province said that since her son got sick, Ms. Hong's family situation has been very difficult. The locality has grasped the family's situation and regularly cares for and encourages them. Currently, to support the family, Nguyen Duc Tri is entitled to social allowances for children with particularly severe disabilities (from May 2026) at a rate of 1,250,000 million VND/month. The family is also supported with 500,000 VND/month under the category of care for people with particularly severe disabilities.
