The happiness of welcoming their first child after many years of longing was not yet complete when an unexpected event struck the family of Ms. Pham Thi Hanh Ngan (born in 1997) and Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan (born in 1996) in Cat Thanh commune, Ninh Binh province.
After many years of marriage, Mr. Tuan and Ms. Ngan decided to perform in vitro fertilization (IVF). The arduous journey to find a child was finally rewarded when she became pregnant with her first child.
However, that joy did not last long when an unexpected event struck.
Being in the 6th month of pregnancy, Ms. Ngan received bad news when her husband had a serious accident. Mr. Tuan suffered a traumatic brain injury, severe pulmonary contusion and had to be taken to the emergency room in critical condition. To date, he is still lying motionless on the hospital bed, having to feed his brain and doctors are trying to treat him, waiting for a suitable opportunity to perform a skull transplant.
Over the past months, the treatment cost for Mr. Tuan has reached hundreds of millions of VND. That is too much money for a purely agricultural family and just poured all their capital into IVF.

Now, in the small house, the person who is busy every day is Mr. Ngo Van Chien (born in 1966, Mr. Tuan's father). Mr. Chien choked up and said: "After a period of treatment at the hospital, my son was allowed to go home and continue treatment. The couple had just poured all their capital into IVF when an incident struck. Feeling sorry for my son and grandchild, my wife and I took turns staying by the hospital bed to take care of my son.
Currently, Ms. Ngan just gave birth to a baby who is over 3 months old. After the birth, her health has not fully recovered, so she cannot go back to work. Every day, she both takes care of her young child and takes care of her paralyzed husband with her elderly parents.
Ms. Ngan said: "Mr. Tuan is the main pillar of the family, since the accident, the entire current income mainly depends on the farming of his grandparents and the help of relatives. Meanwhile, the cost of medicine and treatment for Mr. Tuan still arises every day, causing the life of the whole family to fall into difficulty.
Witnessing the continuous upheavals that came to Mr. Chien's family, many people in the neighborhood could not help but feel sorry. In recent days, neighbors and relatives have regularly visited and supported the family with words of encouragement and small gifts to share difficulties.
According to the leader of Cat Thanh Commune People's Committee, after the traffic accident, Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan is currently paralyzed, and all activities depend on his relatives' care. Mr. Tuan's wife just gave birth and is living with her elderly parents who are freelancers.
