Reader with email tienthuxxxx@gmail. com asks: How are students' training results classified according to new regulations?

Lawyer Nguyen Thi Thuy, YouMe Law Company Limited answers:

Article 17 of Circular No. 40/2026/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating student work (effective from June 30, 2026) stipulates the content, scale and criteria for evaluating student training results, accordingly, the assessment score is calculated on a scale of 100 points.

Point a, Clause 3, Article 18 of Circular No. 40/2026/TT-BGDDT stipulates the classification of student training results as follows: Student training results are classified into 5 types: Excellent type, good type, good type, average type and weak type.

excellent type: from 90 to 100 points; good type: from 80 to under 90 points; good type: from 70 to under 80 points; average type: from 50 to under 70 points; weak type: under 50 points.

Thus, from June 30, 2026, the training results of university students in the university program (excluding schools belonging to the armed forces) are divided into 5 types: excellent, good, good, average and weak according to the above scale.
