The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:
Article 10, Circular 56/2025/TT-BQP of the Ministry of National Defense stipulates the retirement pension as follows:
1. Soldiers, workers and defense officials who are decided by competent authorities to retire or are entitled to pre-retirement leave for the corresponding number of years of service are as follows:
a) From 15 years to less than 20 years of service: 06 months off;
b) From 20 years to less than 25 years of service: 09 months off;
c) After 25 years of service or more: 12 months off.
2. The pre-retirement leave period prescribed in Clause 1 of this Article shall be paid to soldiers, workers and national defense officials and shall be counted as the period of participation in social insurance.
3. During the retirement preparation period, soldiers, workers and defense officials who suffer from serious illnesses, diseases requiring long-term treatment, and mental illness must comply with the provisions of Circular No. 157/2013/TT-BQP dated August 26, 2013 of the Minister of National Defense regulating the management, treatment, care, and settlement of policies for soldiers, defense officials, and people working in key organizations managed by the Army who suffer from serious illnesses, long-term illnesses, mental illnesses and guiding documents for implementation.
Thus, the pre-retirement leave of officers, soldiers, workers, and defense officials is regulated as above.
