On the afternoon of June 7, nearly 103,000 Hanoi candidates completed the English exam. The test time is 60 minutes.
The English exam for the 10th grade in Hanoi will include 40 multiple-choice questions with a duration of 60 minutes. For each correct answer, the candidate will get 0.25 points.
Vu Minh Minh Minh (Cau Dien Secondary School, Nam Tu Liem) is one of the first candidates to leave the My Dinh 1 Secondary School exam spot, at 15:05.

Minh said that this year's English exam is not too difficult, because at my school, I have been given review questions with similar structures.
I am confident that I have up to 80% correct answers. However, I will not check the answers quickly to focus on completing the Math tomorrow" - Minh said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thiet - Head of the English Department of the junior high school, Phenikaa Inter-level School, commented that the English exam for grade 10 in Hanoi in the 2025-2026 school year is designed according to the B1 output standard, closely following the 2018 General Education Program.
The exam is highly applicable, not problematic, and at the same time stimulates students' thinking ability and language development.
In particular, maintaining a stable exam structure and adding new reading comprehension forms will help students have a good foundation to confidently demonstrate their abilities, while students on average can also confidently achieve positive results if they have reviewed thoroughly.
"This is a good exam, in line with the trend of English teaching to develop capacity. The project opens up opportunities for students to make a breakthrough, promote language proficiency in the context of integration, and continue to practice English skills in real life situations" - Ms. Thiet said.
Commenting in detail on the exam questions, Ms. Thiet analyzed that the exam structure has been maintained stably compared to recent years, helping students prepare well and not be confused.
Specifically, verses 1-12: Check the weight of sounds and pronunciation, words and grammar.
Cau 13-16: cloze test - a type of test with new language, requiring footnotes in the blank space in the notification section; checking root words and context understanding ability.
cau 17-18: Check reading comprehension skills, choose topic sentences, arrange logical sentences, understand the meaning of words in context. Notably, the way of asking in verses 17 and 18 has been adjusted compared to the previous illustrative test.
cau 19-24: cloze test with a familiar theme, checking many grammatical points and students' words.
function 25-26: A completely new type of question in the exam for the past 10 years: Reading and understanding announcements and short messages; testing the ability to apply English in real-life communication.

cau hoi 27-30: Test your skills in re-writing sentences with key knowledge (related topics, direct - indirect sentences, prototype tenses, nominative words).
Cau 31-36: Reading long sentences, testing skills to find the main idea, reasoning and recognizing words.
Cau 37-40: This is also a new type of test in this year's exam: appropriate cau hoi ( nang cao cau hoi), promote the ability to think correctly and understand the logic of the text.
"The data in this year's exam is carefully selected, close to students' lives and suitable for the context of modern education" - Ms. Thiet commented.
Regarding the level of differentiation of the exam, Ms. Thiet said that about 25-28 first questions test basic knowledge, helping students on average to achieve solid grounding scores.
The reading comprehension from question 31 and above and the appropriate filling (question 37-40) have a high level of differentiation, requiring students to have the ability to read deeply, reason and understand the logic of the text - an opportunity to classify the group of students who are quite good and good.
However, the exam still has difficult questions, which are to classify students.
For example, the synonym - opposite meaning section in long readings (for example, indispensable, boost) requires students to not only understand the basic meaning of words, but also have a deep understanding of the meaning in context.
The logical arrangement section (question 18) requires students to think about the machlar order of the text - this is the type of test that many students can easily lose points if they do not practice well.
