In Resolution 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, the Politburo for the first time clearly stipulates the need to pay attention to policies and the lives of school staff. This is a new point, demonstrating the recognition of the role of this force in the school's operations.
In particular, vocational preferential allowances are increased to a minimum of 70% for teachers, a minimum of 30% for employees, and 100% for teachers working in extremely disadvantaged areas, border areas, islands, as well as ethnic minority areas.
To specify the provisions in Resolution 71-NQ/TW, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) is developing a Decree regulating preferential allowances according to the profession for civil servants and employees working in public educational institutions.

In reality, school staff have to take on many silent tasks, but the pressure is not small. However, their income is still not commensurate with the volume and nature of their work.
Having been a clerical worker for 18 years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan - a clerical staff at Mai Lam Secondary School (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) - said that although the work is quiet, it is not less pressure, while her monthly income is only over 6 million VND.
To ensure family expenses, in addition to working hours, Ms. Nhan has to do extra seasonal work. There are days when she starts her shift outside at 5am, then returns to school to work. After finishing her working hours at school, she continued her seasonal work until late at night.
"Sometimes I am very tired, but I still have to try because the cost of living is increasing and my income is limited" - she confided.
When receiving information about Resolution 71 and the roadmap for developing a Decree regulating preferential allowances according to occupation for civil servants and employees in public educational institutions of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ms. Nhan said she was very excited.
"For me, this is a practical policy, helping to reduce income pressure and creating more motivation for myself to feel secure in continuing to work at school. I hope the allowance increase roadmap will be implemented soon" - Ms. Nhan expressed.
Similarly, Ms. Ta Thi Minh Hue - accountant of a kindergarten in Hoan Kiem ward (Hanoi) - also expressed her joy at the above information.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, she said she has been attached to the job for more than 10 years. "Accountability in the preschool environment requires meticulousness and accuracy in each document and book, and at the same time, it is necessary to coordinate with many departments to ensure that the school's operations run in accordance with regulations" - she said.
Despite her extensive experience, Ms. Hue's current salary is only about 7.4 million VND/month. This income makes her always struggle when taking care of her family with two young children. "Child's tuition, living expenses, medicine... all depend on that salary. In the evening, I often take advantage of selling extra goods, taking care of my children and trying to earn some extra income" - she shared.
For Ms. Hue, the fact that school staff are entitled to a minimum of 30% of preferential allowances is a great encouragement. "I feel very happy because there is attention for the school's staff. We do not directly teach like teachers, but our work still contributes significantly to the overall operations of the school. With additional allowances, I will be less pressured and have the conditions to focus better on work and family" - she expressed.
