On the evening of August 12, at Halong Marina Sea Square, Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province, the opening ceremony of the Miss World 2026 contest in Vietnam took place.
According to the Organizing Committee, the event has the participation of 111 contestants representing 111 countries and territories, attracting more than 10,000 delegates, people and tourists to participate.
The highlight of the program is the performance of the ao dai collection "Tinh hoa lua Viet" by designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam, with the participation of 111 contestants.
The contestants appeared with hand-painted conical hats, recreating images, landscapes and heritage of Quang Ninh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Anh - Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that 2026 marks a special milestone when Vietnam hosts Miss World for the first time - one of the most prestigious and widely spread beauty contests in the world.
Quang Ninh province being selected to organize the opening program is not only an honor but also shows confidence in the event organization capacity, development environment and increasingly affirmed position of the province in the process of international integration.
“We hope that each delegate, each guest and especially the Miss World contestants will have memorable experiences about nature, culture and people of Quang Ninh; thereby becoming ‘ambassadors’ spreading the image of a dynamic, open Quang Ninh and a hospitable Vietnam to millions of hearts around the world.
Through this event, Quang Ninh wishes to expand cooperation, strengthen exchanges and understanding between localities, organizations and international friends; together towards peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development," Mr. Le Van Anh emphasized.
Representing Vietnam to attend Miss World 2026 is Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc, born in 2001. She won the title of 1st runner-up Miss World Vietnam 2022 and was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2022.
Before the opening night, from August 8th to 12th, the contestants participated in a number of experiential activities, promoting the image of Ha Long Bay and the Yen Tu historical and scenic complex in Quang Ninh.
After the activity leg in Quang Ninh, the journey of Miss World 73 continues in Hai Phong and Khanh Hoa before entering the final night.
