The fighters participated in 2 events: Football (divided into 3 age groups of 17-40, 41-50 and 51-60) and combat (aged group of 17-40, with 27 weight classes, competing directly on individual basis).

This is a sporting event of great significance, affirming efforts to preserve and promote the quintessence of traditional Vietnamese martial arts, while creating opportunities for exchange and learning between martial arts schools, meeting the enjoyment needs of people and tourists, contributing to promoting the image and introducing the tourism potential of Gia Lai province.

The Gia Lai Traditional Martial Arts Team (Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts Center) participated with 11 coaches and 67 athletes, determined to defend the top spot in both events.

In her opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich said that Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts was born in 1471 under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong in the Hoai Nhon government, then formed and developed, most strongly during the Tay Son period and the 18th century.

Ancient Binh Dinh (now Gia Lai) was one of the cradles of traditional Vietnamese martial arts. Up to now, the Government has agreed to prepare a dossier to submit to UNESCO to consider including "Binh Dinh Traditional Park" in the list of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich hopes that athletes will not only compete in martial arts but also exchange and spread the spirit of martial arts and regional cultural values, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, building a rich and strong country.
