On March 21, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Court No. 60, presided over by Judge Kim Sang Hoon, ruled in favor of ADOR's request for a ban to maintain its status as a representative company of NJZ (NewJeans) and prohibit the group from signing independent advertising contracts.
NJZ (NewJeans) is scheduled to perform at "ComplexCon" in Hong Kong (China) on March 23. The "ComplexCon" organizers have previously announced on their official social media channels that NJZ (NewJeans) will be the main host of the event and tickets for the show have been sold out.
After the court's ruling was favorable to ADOR, there was speculation that NJZ's (NewJeans) concert in Hong Kong (China) could be canceled.
However, ADOR plans to support NJZ's (NewJeans) performance by sending staff to the event to support. ADOR also intends to ask the event organizers to list the group name as NewJeans instead of NJZ.
NJZ (NewJeans) informed ADOR on November 29, 2024 that they would terminate their exclusive contract with the company. However, with the court's ban, NJZ's independent activities (NewJeans), including music release and advertising contracts, have now been limited in effectiveness.
In its ruling, the court reserved ADOR's status as a representative company of NJZ (NewJeans) and banned the group from conducting independent music or commercial activities without ADOR's participation.
