After being eliminated from the show, causing much regret for the audience, Ai Phuong said she was grateful for the favor and love from the viewers.
She herself is not pressured by the audience's evaluation, she considers this as luck. The female singer feels that she is not a hit-maker because the songs that are well-received by the audience are all the result of effort combined with luck.
Her pressure is to not let down the audience who love her: “I feel pressured if people affectionately call me a hit-maker, but I don’t do well. If I don’t have an excellent performance in the show, I feel guilty towards the audience.”
In life, Ai Phuong wants to pursue music and help people. Impressing with a new composition called "Don't wanna say goodbye" at the debut stage of "Sister Who Makes Wave 2024", Ai Phuong shared: "The opening performance is a song I wrote in 2022. This is not a playground for me to show off my personality, the solo round is the only round where I can express who I am.
I think of myself as a storyteller, a songwriter. I wanted to choose a story from my own journey to tell the audience. And I chose the journey of healing.”
Before participating in "Sister Who Makes Wave 2024", Ai Phuong was often called "the beautiful singing girl".
The female singer shared about this title: “Beauty who sings” at that time was still a prejudice. Later, people used it and supported my music even though they didn’t know who I was. No one likes to be called “beauty who sings”. Sometimes it erases the effort and professionalism of someone who has put all their effort into art. My investment has not been seen, which makes me sad.”
Famous for her healing songs but with a low release frequency, Ai Phuong believes that people always need healing music but not necessarily too much. She also admits that there is pressure about quantity, but there is certainly never pressure about her music becoming outdated.
Ai Phuong has experimented and explored many genres of music, honing her skills, but the product she releases must make her feel her soul in it before she dares to release it for the audience to enjoy. Being honest with herself, not being apologetic to the audience - what Ai Phuong aims for.
With peer pressure in the arts, Ai Phuong confided about her healing musical journey: “With my gentle, tender music, talking about sharing emotions, caressing people's souls, I think people need it for a lifetime.
Luckily, I think I can do it for a long time. I have a song every two or three years, I am not a star that comes and goes! I am someone who stays with everyone forever! I will cherish this because there is no deadline.”
