According to Korean media, the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA) has updated its official gold and platinum list, recognizing singles and albums based on sales and certified streams in the US.
RIAA awarded Gold certificates to 500,000 units sold, platinum to 1 million, multi-platinum to 2 million and diamonds to 10 million.
BTS has achieved a new platinum certification for four singles: "Run", "Blood sweat & Tears", "DNA" and "Fake Love", each single surpassing 1 million units in sales and combined streaming in the US.
With these additions, BTS currently holds a total of 13 platinum discs, expanding their record for the most RIAA platinum certification for any K-pop artist.
The group has previously achieved platinum certification for hits like "MIC drop", "Boy With Luv", "IDOL" and "Butter," as well as albums including Love Yourself: Answer, Map of the soul: 7 and Be.
In 2023, BTS became the first K-pop group to achieve a 5-time platinum certification (more than 5 million units) with their global hit Dynamite.
The group has also received a number of new gold certifications, with "Save ME", "Spring Day", "ON", "Black Swan" and "Permission to Dance" each single surpassing the 500,000 unit mark.
