On June 21, member Suga of BTS was officially discharged from the army as a community service employee.
Although there was no official welcoming event like the other members, on the day of his discharge, Suga still sent a message to fans through Weverse.
The male singer apologized for his drunk driving incident. This is the first time Suga has spoken out since the incident occurred in August 2024.
In the post, Suga sent his sincere thanks to all the fans who have been waiting for him and said that he misses ARMY (BTS fan community) a lot.
Over the past 2 years, Suga has spent time reflecting on himself. I especially felt like I needed to break away from what I had done for a long time and look at everything from a small distance.
Until now, I just run forward without looking back at myself. But this time it gave me the opportunity to reflect and look inside again, the male singer said.
Suga also apologized for his disappointment and concern over what happened last year.
I hurt the fans emotions. I also feel guilty towards the members, who must have felt the burden in their own way because of me, the male singer expressed.
Finally, Suga promised: I will move forward, try my best to repay the love you have given me. I love you all. I will soon share more updated information with you.
According to Korean media, Suga began his replacement military service on September 22, 2023. He took advantage of the remaining days off and ended his final working day in the army on June 18.
Suga's official discharge date is June 21, but he no longer has to report to the mission. His leave was used through a standard and approved process.
With Suga's discharge, all 7 members of BTS have officially completed their military service. Jin and J-Hope were the earliest to be discharged from the army, returning to activities and performing. RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook were also discharged from the army on June 10-11 through a public event.
The comeback of BTS's full group was revealed to take place around March 2026.
However, when asked about the information about BTS's reunion, management company BigHit Music only briefly replied: "There is still no decision on BTS's comeback schedule."
