The event is scheduled to take place on March 21, 2026, marking the highly anticipated comeback of the global group after a long absence.
This will be the first time BTS will perform live the songs in the return album called "Arirang", a project believed to be inspired by the famous traditional Korean folk song. Choosing Gwanghwamun - a historical and cultural symbol of Seoul as the venue makes the event even more special, not only for fans but also for the national cultural image.
According to Korean media, in addition to the main square, BTS and Big Hit Music have also applied to use surrounding areas such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun and Sungnyemun to serve organization, stage, media and audience management. Seoul City is currently considering detailed plans for crowd control and security, before licensing all related spaces.
A representative of the Seoul government said: "We appreciate BTS's global influence as well as the value of promoting the city's image. However, with the large scale of the event, safety and traffic regulation will be prioritized.
It is expected that hundreds of thousands of domestic and international fans will flock to Seoul on this occasion.
Within the framework of "BTS 2026 Comeback Show, Seoul", the city also plans to deploy many special experience activities for tourists, including BTS display spaces, K-pop-themed tours, check-in areas and cultural programs combining tradition and modernity. This is considered a strategy to combine music and tourism to promote Seoul's image as a "global cultural capital".
Information about the concert quickly caused a social media explosion, with a series of keywords related to BTS, Gwanghwamun and Arirang album climbing search tops. Many international fans believe that this could become one of the biggest outdoor music events in K-pop history, not only because of its scale but also because of the symbolic meaning of the location.
